@Gerry Hamilton mentioned Purdue, a program that doesn't get enough consideration for how tough that job was before Indiana emerged as a contender in the Big Ten.

I've probably had a warped sense of what Purdue is as a program because I was in high school when Drew Brees was running Joe Tiller's offense, a system that was ahead of its time (the same goes for how I view Arkansas and UCLA). Their last conference championship was in 2000, and before that, it was 1967.

No Big 12 teams @Gerry Hamilton?

I think West Virginia, Kansas, maybe even something like Cincinnati are not great football schools. The difference from the other conferences might be it is easier to make it to the top quickly because there are no dominant programs at the moment.

Kentucky is worse than Arkansas in my opinion. Rutgers is up there too.

Arkansas might be worse because Arkansas has a history of being a good football program and is one of those that will be very hard to ever be a contender. The fans yearn to return to being an “equal” of Texas but probably never will be (consistently).

I think Ark is the worst just because of expectations. If you go 0-3 vs Texas with under 10 wins in your first 3 years you’re likely a goner. Hell 0-2 even if the losses are bad enough

I guess they aren’t technically P4 anymore but Oregon State and Washington State would be up there.

Not really, they have manageable schedules and better histories than the other teams that are in their conference. They should be perennial contenders for the g6 spot in the playoffs next year on if either of them have close to a good coach

Arkansas plays Texas, LSU and either Bama or UGA for the next four years.

Even if they go 1-2 in those games, that’s pretty much a guaranteed 3+ loss season for the next 4 years unless a coach turns things around in a big way. Especially if LSU starts playing the way they can/should.

Ark could get a coach like Cignetti, but that coach for sure won’t be blessed with the same schedule Cignetti’s been blessed with the last 2 years.

I don’t see how Wake and BC are worse jobs than Arkansas. You have zero recruiting base if you’re Arkansas except getting unappreciated guys from BEAST Texas and hoping they develop into studs….who are loyal.

Neither is serious about football, hence why they now play in the 2-team Pac12 while other schools went to power conferences.

By conference:

SEC - Auburn, because of their boosters and admin. Vanderbilt is second for me.

BIG - Rutgers or Purdue

ACC - Duke, basketball outshines you no matter what.

Big 12 - Kansas similar to Duke but also outshined by Kansas State

Oregon State and Washington State had seasons every now and then with 9-10 wins against much better competition than what they’ll be faced with now.

Oregon State and Washington State are at worst good spring board jobs.

IF (big IF) a coach ever got Ark to the CFP, that coach would be immediately poached by the next blue blood program that comes open

I was thinking about this last night, and it's almost undoubtedly Arkansas right?

Arkie has had times when they were really good under Broyles, Hatfield, Holtz and pretty good under Petrino and Nutt. Pretty area and now easier to get to. NIL, They should be able to play with the Waltons, Tysons, Jones etc in the mix. Would rather they stay down because they bring it when they play us. It is a holy war.
