  1. If he had hit 20.8 mph you would have seen some serious s**t.
  2. Definitely in the minority. Nope, but they won by 4 TD’s and then performed a Thuggee cult ritual in Madison on national tv whereas Georgia treated an average Clemson Tigers team like a house cat in Springfield before just barely surviving a an extended pillow fight against another set of domesticated felines in Lexington.
  3. UT fans need to get comfortable with that #1 hanging out before Texas. I assure you that players from Bama, UGA and OSU don’t get in a twist about it, and their fans take it in stride. Texas fans have been beaten down for so long that we’re afraid to think it’s true. UT has looked like the best team in the nation besides Alabama, and Bama hasn’t played anyone. You could almost say that about UT as Michigan isn’t a rolling ball of butcher knives this year.
  4. It would behoove defenses to substitute, if the offense allows it, on critical downs and take their sweet time doing it imoho. The offense can still reconnoiter with motion and shifts, but the radios cut off with 15 seconds left on the clock, and no coaching tips or impromptu brain transplants would be available. That applies to the defense too, but you’re back to player on player situations and the preparation leading up to it in those instances with no coach input. It also makes sense then to have very versatile players on the field in anticipation of those critical downs so that offensive substitutions are minimized and the defense can’t slow roll the play clock with personnel games.
  5. I’ve seen this pop up on YouTube and will have to give it a look. Something I noticed on the rewatch was something on our first drive of the third quarter. It’s second or third and long. Texas had tried to get big and run on Michigan to start the drive and Blue tripped on his bad wheel followed by a failed tunnel screen. Texas lines up and you can already see Michigan with on safety easing down while the corners start scooching back. Quick cut to Sark and you see him yelling “7, 7, 7, 7!” Quinn play actions to one side and then lobs a pass over the LB’s and Helm to Bond running a deep out. Coincidence or was Sark telling QE who’d be open presnap?
  6. It’s hard to get a TE of Gunnar Helms’ ability off the field. He catches everything, Quinn trusts him and he does that blocking thing too which seems to be something Niblack is far less adept at. I suspect Niblack gets a lot of run with the 2-3’s in the next 3 games and may have his moment to crack open the door with the coaches or solidify his role as very interesting slot receiving mismatch slated for occasional use in 24.
  7. I have this notion wandering around upstairs that we’re seeing the remolding of our rushing attack into a more gap centric offense where IZ is a change up and not a feature due to Baxter’s loss. A lot of power, PNP, C sweep, counter and so on and so forth have featured prominently in the first two games. I look for our rushing attack to continue to improve as we rep these plays more and more and the reads and if/then rules become more and more natural for our OL. Possibly speaking completely out of my bass on that, but we love to run left with pulling OL this year.
  8. They wanna trot out the 03 version of Paul Vincent Young and ask us to stop them on the ground while having nothing special at WR then be my guest. We’ll drop a safety down, trot out some war daddies at DE, LB and Star and gently inform them that Orji is going to have to use his arm or he might not finish the game.
  9. Rewatched the first half once the kids went to bed. Noticed that we ran left to near exclusion. I don’t know if that was gameplanning or personnel specific. Pin and pull, buck sweep, toss and some inside zone. Short yardage gotta have it looked like maybe duo. The two blown up run plays were Connor getting beat inside and Helm doing the same. Runs to the right were the TD with the LG pulling around to hit someone outside the OT, and what looked like a poor attempt at power or some kind of zone insert with the LG pulling. The latter went nowhere. It would be great to see some all 22 film as the broadcast rarely attempted to show what happened.
  10. Tale as old as time, Happens every year about this time, The strong are beaten by the weak DJU just doesn’t have it. And I think with the portal that’s it’s possible more early season upsets might happen where the perceived stronger program may restock it’s lineup, but team cohesion and continuity suffers in the short term until everyone gets locked in on the same page.
  11. So like UM has watch East Heyseus State lose schollies for misreporting their water cooler count, or would a Connor Stalions report suffice. Zero Foxes given at this time. The NCAA is more feckless than ever, and major programs have no real disincentive to cheat other than the tongue lashing of opposing fans for a few years that will not tarnish the hardware in the trophy room.
  12. It’s a play that Baxter probably runs better than Blue or Wisner. Also, running it from 12 personnel with everyone and their mother on defense close to the LOS is different than running it spread out with smaller bodies defending lighter boxes. Blanket statements that other posters believe that X or Y can’t run a play are misleading. We probably don’t want to try to make a living running Tre Wisner at the guard’s backside in 12 personnel in the SEC. Or in Ann Arbor. And that affects our RPO game. This isn’t crazy talk.
  13. Michigan just hit the “fire the terrible comfort hire” lotto. I suspect they’ll see how the season goes minus Harbaugh and use their out early if needs be.
  14. It’s very simple, the answer is green, and it’s not the green of the beautiful Williamette Valley.
  15. Something like that, but the OP was talented room and not on field production. Ogbannaya had more than a cup of coffee in the league as a third down back, something none of us probably saw coming untik 08 happened, so I added him to the list.
  16. Yeah, I left him off he list because I seem to recall his role diminishing after he decided dive around the defender rather than run through him at OSU and failed to score. And what could have been with Ramonce.
  17. Jamaal Charles, Selvin Young, Ramonce Taylor, Chris Ogbannaya and Ahmad Hall seemed to get the job done.
  18. There’s exceptions and then there’s the rule. The players listed above at this level of football are the former. That’s not giving up on anybody, but it is looking at the odds and metering expectations.
  19. Manning in the running with Gipson for annual team “Quadzilla” award.
  20. Gonna think of Sydir as Syrup until he gets it under one Coburn one the scales.
  21. I think it could be lethal later in the year but suspect that there could be an early season disconnect between QB and our bevy of new receivers until Quinn and company build up a functional on field rapport, and the new players settle into the offense. I think about AD Mitchell taking about half the season to fully weaponize and then multiply that by 3-4 positions on a given play dependent on personnel grouping. We’re not going to struggle with the forward pass, but it won’t be dominant early imoho.
  22. Juke you out of your jock and induce a seizure simultaneously. Diabolical.
