  1. Going way way back, I was at the OU game in 1984. Texas had the ball at the Sooners 2 yard line with seconds left on the clock and tried dives into the line for no gain. BTW the game was played in a Thunderstorm. The Longhorns ran a pitch out wide right. Texas RB (Kevin? From Houston) took the pitch and sprinted to the right corner. High risk, high reward. Oklahoma DBs met him a foot outside of the pylon and all three players disappeared out of bounds in a huge splash of water on the old artificial turf at the Cotton Bowl stadium. Game ended with score tied. The last time game I ever sat through a tie game. And the wettest I ever got watching a Texas game. And the pitch out didn't work that game either. Hook 'Em!
  2. Last year it was an incredibly hot QB... hottest I ever remember. This year it was a hot team. I've never been a Notre Dame fan but I will be next week. Hook 'Em!
  3. Yes, thanks! A personal note... I had a family member in Hospice care from July to December. The OTF daily material on YouTube gave me something to take my mind off the bad stuff and to remind me that College Football can serve many purposes. Bobby and crew are great and much appreciated and enjoyed. Hook 'Em!
  4. Speaking of former Bama players... I thought I saw where Agiye Hall was knocking on Kalen's door. If true that takes some chutzpah.
  5. Before Quinn was injured in the '22 game against Bama he looked elite. He looked the same in beating Bama in Tuscaloosa in '23... An outstanding accomplishment. The two long bombs he threw were college QB perfection. Then this season at the Big House he looked like a Heisman favorite. Injuries and the football gods conspired to hold him one step short of the top. And perhaps one bad coaching call on D and one on O didn't help either. James Street and Vince Young sit on that top step but they don't have to look down very far to see #3. Thanks and Hook 'Em!
  6. Agree and thanks to Quinn. I remember when Simms committed. In those days I had to call into Robert Heard's or Jerry Scarborough's 900# for the daily commitments. Yikes! Here's hoping Arch turns out to be great. His performance and demeanor along with his team spirit have him off to a good start. Hook 'Em!
  7. Seems like this young man is taking lots of visits. Must be nice to be in such demand. Could be helpful if it all worked out. Any word on why he's leaving SC?
  8. Speaking of Rick Barnes... I'd take him back in a heartbeat. I was sure Shaka was going to work out...he does everywhere but Austin. We were aligned to be a top program until Beard until let his domestic emotions get the better of him. RT is OK but it just doesn't have the feeling that success is around the corner. CDC? Do you keep a list in your top desk drawer? Hook 'Em!
  9. Agree! I'm a Longhorns fan since 1968 and in the post-Royal years Texas has always tended to be a speed and finesse team except for the years they lacked speed! The 2005-6 team had the most physically aggressive approach and won the Natty. Don't get me wrong... I'm happy because the decade after Mack was so painful and Sark's teams are doing better but still not dominant. But, Sark does need to get physical on the goal line with the OL and he needs to recruit a "Hammer" RB like 6'2" and 240. Or while he's got Arch he might adopt the Philly style QB sneak. Thanks for a great season and a special thanks to Bobby and his OTF team. OTF has become so good I no longer go to any other Texas sports sites. Hook 'Em! And for the first time I have ever said this: Go Notre Dame! Wake Up The Echoes!
  10. Well - blocked. Good adjustments. Excellent execution under pressure. Years ago when Manny Diaz was DC for Texas I was sitting in the north end zone at the Cotton Bowl for the OU game. OU had the football at their own 5 yard line right in front of us. They hit a running play a bit like this Texas play against ASU. They snapped the ball and as the RB took the handoff I saw three blocks develop and I heard three pops in order. Pop (block), Pop (block) and Pop (block) and the OU RB took it 95 yards to the south end zone. It was really great to watch the Horns recognize the ASU defense, adjust and execute. After the lost decade of Texas football I appreciate what the Longhorns have done in the '23 and '24 seasons.
  11. Thanks...I guess! I went to the 1970 Cotton Bowl as a high school junior and I graduated from UT in 1976 and 1978. So I qualify for being both old and an alum. I've been to four Longhorns Cotton Bowl games...none at Jerry World. I'm sentimental about it and wish the game was still at the old stadium. I think the Texas-Nebraska ( the Huskers were in the Big 8 conference then) and the Houston -Notre Dame Cotton Bowls were played in unusually cold weather and those games laid the groundwork for the game to be played at Jerry World decades later. Hook 'Em!!!
  12. I noticed Bobby said that after Texas won the SWC and NC for the 1969 season and the 1970 Cotton Bowl...the teams finishing #2-#4 in the final AP poll are the same teams playing in this year's CFP final four. Some of the true Blue Bloods of CFB. The 1970 Cotton Bowl was a big deal at the time mainly because Notre Dame had a policy of not participating in Bowl Games back then and made an exception to play #1 Texas in Dallas.
  13. Agree with you on this matter of personal and/or over -the-top criticism of college players. I know I am old and Old School on this, but even with players receiving NIL money, I think it's unbecoming behavior. Especially when you are allegedly a fan of a player or his team. Placekicking is like golf or even hitting a baseball. Mechanics and psychology involved and it's not as easy as it appears. And once you get into a slump it can be difficult to break out and get back into the groove. I'm pulling for Auburn and wish him the best but at the same time it's pretty clear he's fallen into the yips. Fingers crossed.
  14. Yormark called Kevin Mar and went with Kevin's opinion. It was a wash...if they didn't call it when Bond was decapitated...then they called it correctly with Taafe.
  15. I may be overreacting but I think some of the Bowl games may become extinct. Worst case all the bowls fade away just leaving those in the CFP rotation.
  16. If Thomas leaves College Station the Aggy fans will swear he was just a spare.
  17. That was a great TV show. I miss the guys and their show. Never been interested in Jeremy on his new gig as a Gentleman Farmer in the Cotswolds. Oh well.... Hook 'Em Horns!
  18. Cook either never heard one of the best pieces of advice ever given...or he chose to ignore it. "Never Let 'Em See You Sweat!"
  19. IDK, but as a Longhorns fan I'm pleased to offer some advice to the Okies going into the next decade of Zero U football... AC/DC said it best -- "It's A Long Way To The Top If You Want To Rock 'N Roll!"
  20. I have an Android phone with T-Mobile and a in- home Wi-Fi. I watch and listen to OTF on YouTube. This morning on Coffee and Football I counted 7 ads interrupting the show's tempo. The 7 ad breaks were in addition to the OTF sponsors which are not intrusive at all and as many have said some are humorous. The numerous Internet ad breaks are a new occurrence... I used to enjoy OTF uninterrupted with only the ads specific to Bobby's Longhorns empire. When I retired I did something many folks have to do... that is look for ways to cut my budget and expenses. I could upgrade to the YouTube premium but I don't want to be bullied or intimidated into upgrading and going back on my budget cutting. Just fyi...my experience. Hook 'Em Horns!!!
  21. I remember watching the game on TV... back in the era when ABC could only televise one game each Saturday. The Longhorns Wishbone offense was really humming that day in Austin against Arky...the season after the big victory in Fayetteville to secure the Natty. I was a high school sophomore and looking forward to attending the University. My mom asked me if I was sure I wanted to go to UT "with all those hippies." Hook 'Em and thanks for the memories!
  22. Thanks! The ones I know yap a lot...
  23. Thanks, Coach Saban er, Adam!
  24. If the first CFB playoff game at DKR shows a lot of empty seats on TV our Aggy friends (?!) will have something to talk about.
