  1. Off topic: Blake, will Lance Jackson play baseball at Texas?
  2. I don't think Oregon is overrated. I think they are in the conversation and I think tOSU gets them in the B1G champ game. There were a lot of good players on that field in Eugene Saturday night.
  3. I don't worry as much that Silas Bolden might get separated from the football on one of those flying returns as I do that he might get separated into little pieces.
  4. If you count the holding call on Helm as against the OL I think there were two.
  5. 1] How many Aggie Fish does it take to screw in a light bulb? None. That is a sophomore course at aTm. NEXT!
  6. Craig Way. One ear pod. One ear open to wife. Watch later. I have done this few times in my my life, especially during years I was compelled to attend offsprings' games on Saturdays.
  7. Heard should have played for any team that was running option football that year. At Texas he was a square peg in a round hole. There was this game, and Cal, for proof of concept. Thinking Hawkins...would OU run option football at us?
  8. Some of us would prefer Wisner get the most snaps. He seems to be a tougher and more adept RB than Blue to me and to others here who have expressed similar opinions. Do you have a clue as to the staff's thinking?
  9. I agree with the OP, and just want to add a vote for Klatt as someone who conveys insights clearly and with precision. I think McElroy is an easy listen as well. Klatt, like Herbstreit, is quietly confident in his own assessments, which is very convincing to a casual fan like me!
  10. Is KDB's calling deep shots based on his QB's strengths and weaknesses coupled with a suspect run game? Tying this to your comment about QBs, with which I partially agree, if KDB had QE he could use the short pass to advantage and probably would. I agree with you that Texas has two QBs who would win more games at Texas then would a Diego Pavia, because they are great passers and smart players. Where I disagree with you is this: Diego Pavia has been a QB for teams without notable talent and has led them to astonishing wins, in games where they would have lost by multiple TDs without him. He is not able to overcome all his team's shortcomings, all the time. Vandy will lose many games that it should lose - after all, Pavia does not play on defense. But he inspires his teammates to play over their heads in tough games. Frankly, I doubt QE would thrive at Vandy, But QE will be a pro QB and Diego Pavia may become a head coach in high school. Some day Pavia may become the head coach at Vandy. But he will never have QE's career at QB. In that respect, I agree with you.
  11. If leadership is job 1 for a QB then Diego Pavia is the best college QB in the nation. Go back and watch him for NMxSt against Auburn at Auburn last season. He is probably not going to the NFL or even the CFL, but he is a rare specimen of a certain type of great college QB.
  12. ULM looked good at home beating previously undefeated JMU, which had been favored over Boise for the #12 seed in the playoffs [after Madison scored 70 against UNC]. I thought the distance between the haves and the have nots would be greater this season, but the P4 conference races all look like meat grinders at this point. Gerry pointed out "home team advantage", which is most pronounced when talent is relatively even and the stadium is YOURS. Note that Cal's stadium advantage does not exist, fortunately for Miami. Texas has AWAY games against two of the home teams with BIG stadium crowd advantages. Plus, Vandy fans seem as eager as his offensive line to come alive for Diego Pavia. We have history to cheer us having played well in away games before hostile crowds recently. Nevertheless, the next seven games will be a grind and the next two will be Midterm Exams.
  13. Jeanty takes pass blocking seriously, as well.
  14. I saw what Pavia did last hear against Auburn for NMXSt - which was unbelievable, really. Gerry has been blowing his horn all season and rightly so. Remember Diego was a champion wrestler and he is a leader and a really tough guy. We will have to take Vandy seriously for this season in Nashville.
  15. Not Herman's Beck, Dude2
  16. Jeanty and Pavia - good viewing. Glad we only have to play against Diego in the regular season.
  17. Having no excuse to watch Texas I will be doing something excellent - frisbee in the park with my twin teenaged granddaughters.
  18. What? I thought Texas has had some explosive games. Is he looking for 70 pts?
  19. Good to know, this was my first watch this season.
  20. Makes one realize what a great blocker ONeal was.
  21. Trey will be the #2 next season. When QE is out he is the #2 NOW. So my bet is that if QE comes back for OU and for the remainder of the season we will only see Trey twice more. But if QE misses more than two more games the RS will probably be lost. I am still looking for Cole Lourd to throw a TD to Thatcher Milton, of course.
  22. I really favor this take. Like early VY, Arch's personal inclination for a second read seems to be to run, and I suspect that was verboten for him against ULM and will be against Miss St. He can read progressions it seems to me, so I hope Sark hammers on how good the receivers are after the catch and has him looking short first. When he can content himself to take the easy pickings he will have matured to a new level. The bomb can be held in reserve and can still be useful if used sparingly. Throwing one now and then [but NOT into double coverage] loosens up the defense and makes Helm or a RB underneath a YAC menace. Manning is enough of a student of the game that he may be able to quickly correct the "greedy" tendency to look long, first. That would be my hope. As for his passing, not his decision making, his timing with Blue needs a lot of work that I think may never appear Quinn-like this season. Quinn definitely has more arrows in his quiver because he is comfortable throwing to his RBs and TEs. End result? Let Quinn have two more weeks before OU, and look for Arch to take advantage of short throws to WRs, allowing them to move after the catch, against MSU. If he does more - finds his RBs and TEs - that'll be pure gravy.
