  1. Well ESPN mentions that Mark great defense at least once a game. Jon Rothstein said Weaver was playing last game, despite the injury report saying he was out. Add to that the moron on X that said Texas has a high NIL. The people that actually follow Texas basketball absolutely know better. Guys keep thinking Basketball is Football.
  2. They will build a statue of CDC if he can convince BMDs to spend that money.
  3. Wright is a waste of time, he has made it clear he is not coming back. Texas reached out to him before they hired Shaka and he wasn’t interested.
  4. I have never thought Oats was an option. Gerry just used the name for those wanting a coach like that. Lots of other coaches fall into that category. CDC can certainly send feelers out. Then you need interest from the other party (which will eliminate many, because they already have everything they want), and hopefully a few that do express some interest.
  5. So it is possible? That’s encouraging.
  6. Gerry said a feeler would be put out. It doesn’t go further than that. I would pay it, but I am not Texas.
  7. Gerry put up the general cost of getting Oats and it’s around 24 million when you include everything. And that’s before they pay RT and his assistants.
  8. Curious because the biggest ones are demanding salaries that Gerry said UT will not match.
  9. He’s ambitious. Not a bad thing.
  10. Splash hire like?
  11. Oh man you are here. He’s been discussed.
  12. Gerry mentioned him earlier. Having an interim coach become a head coach rarely works. Coming from the NBA to college rarely works. Does CDC make a second straight risky hire? He checks a lot of boxes, but that’s my biggest concern.
  13. I agree. My point is if you spend that money you can’t miss that bad.
  14. Finally, I actually do have a floor. I am a supporter whoever it is, but I stop at Bliss as well. Even if he coached for free.
  15. You do realize Kansas spent millions in the portal last year. They are about to drop out of the top 25. Two of their “best” recruits average six points a piece.
  16. Problem is they took a risk with Terry, do they take another risk? NBA to college almost never works. However, he’s passionate about the school (Will take less money), would most likely unite everybody ( how long is the question) and can talk to any kid wanting to get to the league with credibility. He’s played and coached in the NBA. I worry about his lack of connections with Texas high schools though.
  17. Hope you are right but the Nate Oats comments by Gerry suggest otherwise.
  18. Gerry based of your Nate Oats comments Texas needs somebody passionate about the school (taking a lower salary), and somebody very good at identifying players that can do more for the team at a lower price.
  19. Finally, I seriously doubt this stops the lunacy candidates listed.
  20. Who? Let me just state my expectations. Consistently finishing in the top half of the SEC. Mississippi State has a higher NIL. A&M’s top six players include four players that have been together three years. That’s unheard of in today’s world. Texas Tech is in the top ten. JT Toppin.
  21. He’s done. It’s not the boos. When you have fans leave eight minutes early on your home court that gets you in trouble. Best way to force a change is with your money. Sean Miller with the same NIL? It would produce better results, but over the long haul I don’t see it. He’s 58 and far removed from his days at Arizona, a basketball school by the way, and he’s not killing it at Xavier. I don’t see him consistently finishing in the top half of the conference consistently. A conference that currently has three football schools at the top. Gerry likes him and I would love to be wrong, because that means Texas is winning at a high level. I just don’t think Texas is that interested in being at that level. If they are, they aren’t paying enough to get to that level. Just my opinion.
