The Longhorns hosted a third official visitor this weekend as well. 6-foot-1 IMG Academy (Fla.) forward Joyce 'Isi' Etute was on campus for an official visit as well. Etute is one of the top international players in the country for the class of 2026. A native of Luxemburg, averaged 18.7 PPG and 13.4 RPG in the 2024 FIBA U18 Women's EuroBasket. Etute has a final seven of Louisville, Virginia Tech, North Carolina, Texas, Cal, Indiana and UCLA.

Freshman CB Graceson Littleton saw 9 snaps at outside cornerback on Saturday vs. Sam Houston State. Across the first three weeks of the season, Littleton had seen just two total snaps as an outside corner, and both came due to formation while he was on the field at STAR. Texas was limited with its cornerback availability on Saturday, but this is notable for Littleton's future with the Texas defense, as well as for the overall outlook of the Texas secondary for 2025.

He's a total stud. Top 5 Heisman contender easily.

Vic Schaefer and Texas WBB hosted a pair of five-star prospects for official visits on Saturday for the game against Sam Houston State. 2026 Frisco (Texas) Liberty forward Jacy Abii was on campus to watch the Longhorns under the lights at DKR. Abii, a 6-foot-3-inch forward, is the No. 10 player in the country per the 247Sports Composite ranking. Abii dropped a top five on August 5th of UCLA, Tennessee, LSU, Notre Dame and the Longhorns. In seven games with the U17 Women's World Cup, Abii averaged 5.7 PTS, 4.7 REB and 1.9 AST. Additionally, Texas also hosted five-star Bishop Gormon (NV) PG Aaliah Spaight for an official visit as well. The 5-foot-6-inch point guard is ranked as the No. 21 overall player in the class of 2026, and the No. 4 point guard. Spaight has a top ten of LSU, South Carolina, Texas, Texas Tech, North Carolina, Arizona State, Arizona, Rutgers, Vanderbilt and Virginia Tech. The two took official visits to LSU on September 12

We will hear from Steve Sarkisian in about 1.5 hours for his final update of the week. But I can share a few nuggets from the week of practice. – WR DeAndre Moore was on the practice field this week and the expectation is Moore gives it a go this weekend vs. Sam Houston State. – As for RB Quintrevion Wisner, Texas is going to continue to be cautious. The bye week following this weekend's matchup allows for an extra week of rest for Wisner who is looking to return to 100% from his soft tissue injury. This comes on the heels of Sarkisian saying RB CJ Baxter was "Doubtful" for this weekend's game as well. Expect a heavy dose of James Simon, plus Christian Clark and Jerrick Gibson. Of that trio, I would expect Simon to be the first back on the field. – C Cole Hutson has been limited with a toe injury. Backup Connor Robertson has been receiving first team snaps at center this week in practice and it should come as no surprise to see him as part of the starting 11 this weekend. ••• Additionally, the hope is that QB Arch Manning translates his practice performance to the field. Hearing that the Texas quarterback is having a good week of practice is not lip service, it is the truth. And while that does not mean anything unless the performance on Saturday is synonymous with the praise throughout the week, that is the reason for so much optimism with Steve Sarkisian when he is on the podium and additional folks around the program. Sam Houston State should be the week to break out of the funk and based off of Manning's comments on Monday, he is chomping at the bit to get out there and perform well.

The yips are weird. The less you have to think about something, the better it is. That's why it is so dangerous for putts in golf, or throw backs from the catcher. You don't notice the yips on drives off the tee or on throw downs to 2nd base because you are moving without thinking. It becomes second nature. You have to find a way to get your mind off of the movement and begin to play without thinking. It's very bizarre to explain, and unless you've experienced it, this likely won't make a lick of sense.

Holguin was on campus this weekend, made the decision quickly after returning home.

Introducing the points per drive chart for the first time in 2025. For folks that are new, I view points per drive as the most important statistic when evaluating offenses and defenses. Of course, field position plays a factor on both sides of the football, but over the course of a season, this is the best indicator of whether or not one side of the ball is truly playing well. Obviously these numbers don't mean a ton, given most teams have played East-West Blind State for three weeks while some have a top-25 matchup or two already on the slate. As the season progresses, these graphs will look significantly different. A few takeaways: – Tennessee and Arkansas each sit with top 25 offenses but are the only two teams with defenses outside of the top 100 in the SEC. –There is a strong bunch of teams with top 25 offenses and defenses ranging from 27th to 56th. Those are competitive teams. Of that group, Auburn has the best offense at 4.00 points per offensive possession. The Jackson Arnold experiment is working... for now. – The best defenses in the conference belong to Texas and Oklahoma. Texas allows 0.73 points per possession, Oklahoma sits at 0.78. On that same note, LSU's defense is more than legit through three weeks and two tests against Cade Klubnik and DJ Lagway. – The worst offenses in the conference are led by LaNorris Sellers, DJ Lagway, Garrett Nussmeier and Arch Manning. Who would have seen that coming through the first three weeks of the season. – Pleasantly surprised with the defensive performance from Mississippi State so far this year. They rank 25th.

I would expect Wisner and Moore back for Florida. I think Sark and Texas believe they can win these games without their key guys who are battling injuries, and they are right. On top of that, I think they are hoping to get the young TEs up to speed and looks at Simon + the WR room.

Steve Sarkisian told reporters on Monday that Texas running back CJ Baxter will NOT play this weekend vs. Sam Houston State. Baxter was injured with a hamstring issue on the first play of the game against UTEP. "We don't think it's overly significant," Sarkisian said. "But he'll be out this week to get him ready for SEC play," Texas rolled out James Simon, Christian Clark and Jerrick Gibson as a result. Sarkisian did not provide a firm status on Tre Wisner who has been sidelined with a hamstring issue as well. Texas will evaluate the third year running back as the week continues.
