  2. Regarding the pitching plan for the regional, Schloss said he didn't plan to use Volantis again this weekend, which is why he was extended today. He and Max Weiner brought Volantis back out for the seventh so that he could tip his cap to the crowd and get a well-deserved ovation.

  4. With two outs in the bottom of the ninth, Schloss is going to bring Connor McCreery into the game for his first appearance of the season. Schloss wanted to get McCreery on the mound in the regional, if possible, as a reward for everything he's done for the program in his two seasons with the Longhorns. McCreery, who came to Texas from South Carolina with injury issues, made three appearances last season.

  7. Winter's strikeout to open the eighth is the 619th of the season for the Longhorn pitching staff, setting a new school record.
  8. M8: Texas 16, Tarleton State 2 Michael Winter is out of the bullpen to work the eighth.
  9. A solo shot to right by Rodriguez makes it 16-2 in favor of the Longhorns.
  10. Hamilton gets Tatom to ground out to second to end the inning. We're through seven with the Longhorns up by 13 runs.
  11. One of those runs was charged to Volantis, who now has a 1.94 ERA on the season.
  12. Hamilton allows a single and a double. The shutout is over. It's a 15-2 lead for the Longhorns.
  13. After 6.1 innings and 91 pitches, Volantis exits with a runner on first and one out. Hudson Hamilton is the first man out of the bullpen tonight for the Longhorns.
