  1. on being the first college football playoffs teams to lose at home. Congratulations. (I'm sure aggies will argue that they are the best team to ever lose a home playoff game and give themselves yet another trophy)
  2. I think back to Sark's arrival and the one hire that felt like Sark kind of "settled" on was PK. I'm not saying Sark didn't go big game hunting (he did, he wanted Muschamp) but we wound up in the SEC with a coordinator who developed his system in the PAC 12 and initially had a hard time adjusting to the Big 12. Not that PK was a bad coordinator. He was solid. At times, he carried this team. We can't forget that. But............this is Muschamp. Muschamp is an SEC dude all the way. If you have elite defensive talent, you do NOT try to scheme your way to wins as if the talent is equal. You turn that talent loose and that's what Muschamp does. It's as if Sark said, "PK is good but we're not here to be good. We're here to be great." and he's made sweeping changes on offense. With that said, can Sark find it in himself to do that on offense? By all accounts, sweeping philosophical changes are coming as we attempt to build an SEC style bruising offense as well. The RB coaching hire and purging of the RBs on the roster show this to be true and, by all accounts, some guards are going be pursued in the portal. It's as if Sark has said, "I did this is at Bama before I arrived. Let's build that." I think Sark has taken a HARD look at this team, realized he has Texas money and CDC to back him, and is making every change necessary. I'm just a schmuck fan but I have such a good feeling about this. I can't help but think of a sign I saw one time. It was two buzzards sitting in a tree and one was saying, "Eff waiting.....let's go kill something." Hook Em
  3. Wisner would be such a solid complimentary weapon to a bruising inside runner. I can see, after a bruising back has softened up a defense, Wisner being a nightmare in the later parts of games vs. a tired defense. He's so solid in the outside run game, with ball security, with being assignment sound. Although he doesn't have the size of a closer.........he'd be a helluva closer. He's just so solid. I hope he stays. He's our rival killer.
  4. My favorite part of Ewers' game was the way he feathered the ball into the running backs in the flat and how he hit WRs with short throws in stride. It's very easy to underestimate the value of perfectly hitting an receiver in stride. That split second saved by the RB's NOT having to adjust got a lot extra yards around the corner and throwing a WR open as opposed to throwing at him created hidden yards we'll probably never appreciate. Quinn had his weaknesses but that dude had touch I didn't appreciate until I saw Arch throwing the short stuff. Arch has his strengths but they are kind of the opposite of Quinn. Good luck Quinn!
  5. The whole point of my post was that nobody took sides on the issue on this site. They realized it was a possible hot topic.............and simply let it go. Let's all let it go and be glad their is a site that has members with restraint.
  6. another site I was a member of for years (that's name has three numbers). Those members are absolutely destroying each other over a comment Bijan made. I still go on that site to tinker with the class calculator and happened to see the post. It's been a while since I read those posts and my God, I'm glad I'm here and not there. The moral high ground people on both sides are taking over on that site is just sad. Somehow religion is being drug into it and insults are flying. Please don't make this post about Bijan's comments. He referenced an old backyard football game called Smear the Qu**r. He apologized for it. It's over. This is just a post of gratitude to all the members here and to Bobby and the staff for fostering such a better culture. That old site bought out the worst in me and it's the opposite over here. Thank you all.
  7. "Probably" is a bit optimistic in my opinion. Howard is a Michigan insider AND a college football reporter. Couple that with the fact that the culture at Michigan has obviously been garbage for years and I find it hard to believe Howard truly believed this was a solid human. I think (although not with 100% certainty) he was being a Michigan booster when he made those comments.............not a sincere commentator.
  8. Every outsider in every city in America is from Driver Utopia, USA. Also, have you ever noticed that wherever you live, everyone says "If you don't like the weather in So-and-So, just wait an hour. It will change." (It's almost like every place in the world has weather patterns)
  9. Well said. Remember everybody, Saban was furious when he lost Kyle Flood...................SABAN.
  10. Atkinson committed on McAffee? Well put a tank top on me and call me Sally. I did not know that. I'm losing my recruiting chops.............. BTW, is Bru McCoy still leaning Texas? I think he's going to flip from USC.
  11. If he's on McAfee, I already don't want him.
  12. So Saban and Smart are the baseline? My friend, you have the gift of hind site (which CDC doesn't) on this one. Who would you have hired that would have equaled Saban or Smart? (not so easy is it?)
  13. Good point. Especially South Carolina vs. Clemson. I lived in SC and that is a huge rivalry. I think putting the top 12 teams (with no automatic qualifiers period) cures everything. But I would still avoid scheduling Blue Blood OOC games even if we went to that format. I'd rather see Texas and Texas A&M schedule in state only OOC games. One Big 12 (Tech, Baylor, TCU, Houston or SMU) in state opponent and 2 in state cupcakes. Oklahoma could play Oklahoma state and two cupcakes. That would be a way to enforce conference superiority perceptions for the ranking committees. And for God's sake, schedule some of those OOC toward the end of the season.
  14. It wasn't a waste at all. They did NOT underperform. Instead, we as a fan base overrated them. We lost the following to the NFL: 4 starting offensive lineman. our starting tight end, our best receiver and.......oh yea, our starting QB. We should never have expected a CFP appearance. We should be happy we got as close as we did. I'm impressed with this team. We are a couple of inside offensive lineman away from a top 5ish team next year. What more could we ask for?
  15. I agree. We were in denial about offensive turnover especially. We lost 4 starting offensive lineman, our best receiver, our starting tight end and our starting quarterback. We were in rebuild mode. I look forward to next year.
  16. Not unpopular at all. I freaking loved last night. I was in my living room standing most of the time. I couldn't relax. I felt like if I relaxed, the team would relax. I know that's stupid but that's how I felt last night. At half time, I felt A&M was clearly the better team and I thought, "We'd better play like they are a better team" meaning turn Arch into a gun slinger and dial up run blitzes to compensate for inferior line play on both sides of the ball. Instead, the Horns just manned up and whipped them on both fronts. I've never been more proud of this team.
  17. There were a lot of injuries to DBs during the game last night. The freshman and sophomores stepped up big time. Akina didn't suddenly forget how to coach. Schemes take time and meshing schemes takes even longer. It seems like the younger the players on the field are, the better we do and that bids well for Akina.
  18. Ethan Burke (24/7 3 star) - He was everywhere. Harassing Reed, blocking field goals, stealing undershirts to save TDs, setting the edge (something aggie couldn't do) Tre Wisner (composite 3 star) - What patience he displayed. He knew when to slow down, when to cut, when to burst, when to lower his head and fight......what a rivalry killer he is. Trevor Goosby (24/7 3 star) - Casius who? You might not have noticed him all night...........but that's kind of my point. Recruits, Current Commits and young players currently on the team: Pay attention to what happens when you stick around.

  20. I think he broke his thumb stiff arming
  21. Which head? One of them should ALWAYS be off limits.
