New 4-star DB from Georgia on the radar OnTexasFootball 4-star 2026 CB/nickel Jalen Williams (Marietta, Ga./Kell) tells OnTexssFootball that members of the Texas Longhorns staff have reached out to him and said they are stopping by the school next week. Williams, 6-foot and 165-pounds, has been one of the most popular prospects by college coaches in the Greater Atlanta area since the end of the 2024 season. Williams has picked up January offers from Texas A&M, Arizona State, Vanderbilt and NC State; along with serious interest from many others. The offer list also includes Auburn, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Missouri, Kentucky, North Carolina, Duke and Pittsburgh. Williams posted 39 tackles, eight PBU's, 4 TFL's and 2 INT's in 2024.

lol I'm interested to see how many more high-end DL's Kenny Baker can get the established relationships with this cycle ... so the NIL can take over. I expect more high-end DL's to make it to campus this spring.

Must win game tonight IMO. Texas almost needs to win the next two (Mizzou and Aggies) ... got to get to 7 wins in SEC play to get in IMO. That would mean enough Q1 wins in a brutal league. I'm with you though ... too many people are focusing on defense. Like the loss to Florida ... too many people are talking about Texas' defense, well Florida is a tremendous offensive team. But you know what, Missouri scored 83 in Gainesville last week to win 83-82. Texas scored 60 Saturday - zero chance to win. These teams in this league are going to score on quality defense. It's a legitimate great league that is scoring at a record rate ... so it really is all about offense. Have to be able to score 75+ on the road and 80+ at home consistently. Texas just doesn't put enough pressure on opponents off the ball. Texas ran more consistent action last season vs. this season. Just didn't have the talent level needed. This year, Texas has the parts ... but it's evolving into 1v1 shot creation. That is easy to defend when guys aren't making contested jump shots. If Texas misses the tournament, I just don't see how RT is back if the losses remain the same ... too many losses that aren't competitive in year two.

The problem is people are looking the hat on hat part of the play. The TWO best downhill safeties on the same team in CFB were the issue. They had no pass responsibility on the play, and were lined up 3-4 yards behind the LOS ... closer than normal depth. They were the two players 5 yards behind the LOS to blow up the play. That works against inferior opponents ... that literally had a 0.5% chance to work against Caleb Downs and Ransom without and pass responsibilities.

I'm not worried about Sark and that. But that could always change.

That doesn't mean a singular coach may not be out a day earlier to be clear. The reason is pretty simple ... January 15 is the last day players can enter the portal and the NFL draft. Plenty of reason to be on campus first half of the week.
