  1. I enjoy watching softball. The reaction times are crazy! The chatter is a little much sometimes 😂
  2. I would have to put Texas State ahead of the Horns
  3. He does. I was surprised when I heard he made that decision.
  4. Yeah next year’s team may be Vic’s best team he’s ever had. Should be a good run if all goes well.
  5. Hopefully this is just a bump in the road. Texas has been in Omaha 2 of the last 3 years and last year they made it to a super regional. I’m still fairly confident this team will improve and be a contender for the conference championship in a couple of months.
  6. Watching the Johnston High School Rams (one of the two high schools I went to) play for a chance to go to state championship in 1988, watching Kevin Von Eric and gang wrestling in mid 80’s, and yeah I went to a Beastie Boys concert there in the 80’s 🤦‍♂️
  7. I enjoyed that guys! To me the speed of the game should be sped up just a little.
  8. JM wasn’t my selection in the poll (mine was Mayfield) but JM is easy to hate. He was bad for the sport. Thank the lord for Mack Brown not bringing that crazy train to Austin.
  9. Brain fart. It happens. Especially to those of us who are over 50. Y’all younger guys get ready it’s coming.
  10. NIL played a role on some level in these top portal targets in my opinion. I think this is an area Texas fell behind in on the baseball side. The timing and dates for baseball between the draft and portal window makes it tough. Coach Pierce has admitted that. Other coaches are obviously figuring it out. Hopefully he’s got a solid plan for this year’s portal window and good NIL backing.
  11. I thought Coach Shirley’s response was hilarious “Jolly Green Giant”🤣
  12. Coach Pierce is a good coach and knows baseball. BUT he has some glaring issues that keep coming up year after year. The portal is one of them as mentioned (he hasn’t figured out how to manage the recruiting and portal dates very well like other coaches have). He also has a track record at Texas of average bullpen pitching, constant staff changes and either bad talent evaluation or player development or (mostly likely) at times a combination of both. Don’t get me wrong I’m not saying he needs to go at all. There’s just a number of areas where he needs to improve in my opinion. I do think the team will improve a lot as the season progresses because that is also his track record. Hopefully sooner than later.
  13. I hear his numbers are not going to tell the whole story. He got a lot better at the end of the season. In a radio interview last fall Coach Pierce even commented on the number of pitchers returning and already having his weekend starting rotation in place with LBJ, Witt and Hurley. I think even Coach Pierce is surprised at his performance so far this year.
  14. Lol Coach Pierce is still trying to figure out what arms he has and doesn’t have. To be fair It’s not uncommon to see teams at a “work in progress” stage early in the season and this has been Coach Pierce’s MO. Problem with this year is he has a lot less time to figure out solutions before facing tougher competition again. There are a couple of early signs of concern with the pitching staff for me. Charlie Hurley has regressed from where he was last year. David Shaw was supposedly much improved and while he’s not any worse than last year I don’t see that he’s any better.
  15. Texas baseball took it on the chin this weekend at Minute Maid going 0-3 for the weekend against LSU, Texas State and Vanderbilt. The Good- the offense got bad on its horse after the LSU game scoring 21 runs in the last 2 games. The bad- Horns pitching staff allowed 31 runs and serving up entirely too many cookies giving up 7 home runs on the weekend. The ugly- 20 strikeouts Friday night against LSU. Lost a lead late against Texas State Saturday followed by a monumental collapse today against Vanderbilt losing 14-11 after racing out to a 11-3 lead. Coach Pierce has historically turned things around after slow starts to the season. Only this year he doesn’t have much time with the Aggies coming to town Tuesday followed a trip to Lubbock next week to start conference play. This is probably his biggest challenge yet. Hopefully this weekend will light a fire in the team, most importantly the pitching staff. We’ll see.
  16. Yes sir I agree. If Texas makes it to Omaha he’s going to need to be a factor in a couple of months.
  17. What’d you think of Witt last night? Short snippet with just one inning of zero pressure pitching but seemed like it was good for his confidence.
  18. Thanks Blake! We have YouTube TV and Sling so I don’t think we get Space City Home Network. Do you know if Astros X on YouTube is different than the Astros YouTube channel?
  19. Absolutely horrible!! Prayers for all families affected by this along with all those working the front lines.
  20. Ah the off season 😂
  21. Thanks Bobby! It would be interesting to see the teams record with each year compared to the results recruiting class.
  22. It will be interesting to see how the staff ends up on these Georgia offers. 🙏🤘
  23. The season is still young. Still work to be done in my opinion on offense but also for some of the pitching. Playing better teams (starting Tuesday) will expose some of these issues. I feel like Baseball America has them ranked about right at 15. Again it’s still early. This team can be really good though when it all comes together. Just glad LBJ is on our team!
  24. Instead of schools hiring analysts many now are going to hire the best salespeople possible. I don’t like where this could go.
