    He’s definitely not back yet. I don’t figure him to be an impact until maybe late season and that would be a bonus. That’s how I’m looking at it anyway.

    To me this doesn’t look like a strong Cal Poly team. Hurley had a good outing against them but if he keeps chunking hangers it’s gonna get ugly when we face better competition. It’s early though. I do feel a lot better already about the bullpen.

    Red zone no doubt but I agree Sark has room for improvement at in game play, post script play calling.

    Man I was hoping they would at least tie that hit record. Cade O’Hara was a great surprise for me. That was good to see. Looking ahead to this weekend any thoughts on Cal Poly?

    Start out at Matt’s El Rancho. Get a couple Rita’s and a large Bob. Head down to the stadium, park and head to Schultz beer garden for a drink and hang out with hundreds other Horn fans. At 2 hours and 15 minutes before kick off the team walks down Bevo blvd on the west side of the stadium. Then hang around the stadium. On the north end and northeast corner of the stadium there are more tailgate tents and most are friendly. If there’s kids the north end of the stadium has carnival rides. Allow 45 minutes to get into the stadium and get seated. If you’re in the north end of the city and don’t want to cross town for Matt’s El Rancho, El Patio is a cool little restaurant with lots of Longhorn history and really good enchiladas but get a beer their Rita’s just aren’t good imo.

    I agree Bobby at least sitting here in February without a clear picture on the make up of the entire team especially on defense. I know some are thinking the schedule isn’t tough but I disagree. Georgia is obviously going to be tough but there are 3 rivalry games on the schedule. That’s a huge number of rivalry games in one season. Those rivalry games aren’t cake walk games in my opinion. Fayetteville at night is not much different than Aggie land. Kentucky won’t be easy either. Florida may not have a great record by then but they have talent.

    Yeah Friday’s game was surprisingly pretty clean. The last 2 I saw a lot of early season rust. They’re just not in sync yet but to me the talent is there. The bullpen may end up being the strength of the team. Keep in mind there has been changes in staff and in roles within the staff. Coach Pierce is pitching coach and no longer the 3rd base coach on offense. Tulo is also a new face at least to some of the players. Pierce could use some consistency with his staff. Hopefully it will come together. Time isn’t on their side though. The first 7 games of March is a brutal stretch.

    Baseball closed the weekend out with a rubber match win today to take the series against a pretty good San Diego team at chilly Disch Falk 🤘🤘

    Coach White has one helluva team! That was a big win early in the season.

    I thought they looked really good overall. The team has a lot of talent. LBJ has a good outing in my opinion. Jared Thomas was in mid-season form. I think he’s going to be a Longhorn great when it’s said and done. Will Gasparino is going to be special. He didn’t play like a true freshman. Obviously Flores has amazing power. That grand slam into that wind was one that probably made Zac Zubia’s jaw drop. Max Belyeu was great in right that was really good to see. I thought the bullpen was solid! I think San Diego is a good team and the pen only allowed one run the last 3rd of the game.

    Yes sir talent is there. The pitching might be ugly at times early in the season this year but hopefully it all comes together at least by mid conference.

    Some people don’t ever recover from Tommy John’s. Look at Dre Duplantier. He wasn’t at Witt’s level before injury/surgery but he had high hopes and potential. He still tries hard but has never found his pitching since the surgery. I sure hope Witt can rebound. Looking back seems like he probably pushed too hard to get back last year.

    So we have YouTube tv and buy a subscription to Sling each spring to watch the Longhorn network. It’s about 70 bucks a month but they do give you half off your first months rate. It’s only for 4 months. I’ll have to check on a referral code.

    Thanks CJ. I didn’t watch the video because I’m just not a Pollok fan to put it nicely lol. I’m surprised he’s saying anything good about a Texas player. Maybe he’s coming around.

    Thanks Blake good stuff!! Im hoping Ryan Galvan takes another good step forward in his progress. We are going to need two reliable catchers at least. I would love to see Casey Cummings at the plate some this weekend and give his former team a not so welcome to Texas 🤘 In terms of other pictures I am interested to see the progress of Grant Fontenot and also Gage Boehm. Both seem to have big upside. Other things I’m looking forward to seeing unfold as the season moves forward is how the team plays after an offseason with Tulo and how Pierce does with the pitching staff. There’s questions on the team but I do believe the talent is in place to compete for another championship. Who’s braving the weather and going Friday and/or Saturday?

    Yes sir it’s been a long time since Horns fans looked at a list like that. That list alone says the program is in the right track.

    Dang that’s a brutal schedule Florida has. Napier is gonna be kicking rocks down the road before the season ends.

    A lot of great info guys! Solid points. I think the one thing I keep going back to after watching Andy Reid closely several times this season is how calm he is. He never seems to get off his bubble. Seems like his laser focus often pays off in big games. Guess that’s what experience brings.
