I get what you’re trying to say, but the “zero rushing yards = good outcome” thing doesn’t really hold up. Zero rushing yards usually means the QB didn’t scramble, didn’t extend plays, and probably took a couple sacks instead of escaping. That’s not a win for the offense. Arch avoiding unnecessary hits? Sure. Arch becoming a statue? That’s not how Sark coaches quarterbacks. Scrambling is literally one of the best ways to avoid hits - you’re choosing the angle, not standing still waiting for a 260‑lb dude to tee off on you. And check‑downs aren’t some magic solution; they’re the emergency exit when the first two reads aren’t there. If Arch has to check down all night instead of extending plays, that’s actually a sign the offense isn’t functioning. And the funny part is you praise Brad Jackson for stressing defenses with his legs… then turn around and say Texas is better off if Arch never uses his. Why would mobility be a weapon for them but a liability for us? A couple scrambles and a keeper or two are exactly how you keep the offense on schedule, avoid sacks, and make our game with Texas State or OSU prepare for more than just drop‑back passing. Thanks for posting, Jeff - good stuff as always. Honestly, the biggest difference this year is Arch isn’t walking into Week 1 surrounded by dudes who still needed Google Maps to find the stadium. Last year he had freshmen everywhere, no run game, and spent half the season playing “SEC Escape Room” just to keep drives alive. Now he’s older, the offense is older, and Sark doesn’t have to call plays like he’s trying to keep a toddler from drinking Windex. Give Arch a real supporting cast and suddenly the offense looks like, you know… an offense. If they clean up the penalties and the run game shows even a heartbeat, this thing is going to start way faster than last year’s “Arch versus the world” tour. Texas has resources, brand power, and recruiting pull that would make half the country’s ADs look like geniuses. She did fine. She wasn’t a disaster. She also wasn’t the mythical queen of excellence people are suddenly pretending she was. CP had a massive run and did a lot behind the scenes, no question. But I’ve never been one of the people who thought she walked on water. Glad she’s getting her flowers, glad she’s staying involved, but also glad CDC is clearly steering the ship now. Appreciate the decades, but I’m not shedding any tears over the transition.
