  1. Texas is a top-four seed ... a major advantage We have the talent to make a run, but the second half of the season showed why we are not the safest pick. The pitching depth behind Kavan hasn’t been consistent, the defense has been shaky, and the offense disappears too often against top‑tier arms. In a league as deep as the SEC, those issues get exposed fast. We can win it, but they’ll need to play cleaner softball than they have in months.
  2. Some people on this board are acting like Texas is the only good program that didn’t live in the portal, and that’s just not true. Plenty of top teams barely touched it - the difference is those teams already had Final Four‑level cores. Texas skipped the portal while losing three rotation players and bringing in five freshmen, so the anxiety is about timing, not roster size. But some of these takes are way over the top. Texas isn’t suddenly behind Vanderbilt or Kentucky, and saying “Sweet 16 would shock me” is just emotion talking. Booker is one of the best players in the country, the recruiting class is elite, and Schaefer wins 25+ games even in imperfect years. The ceiling is still high- the margin for error is just smaller.

  4. according to Chip, Jada Bediako is on campus now.
  5. I wouldn't think so based on everything Baker said today, this age‑based eligibility rule wouldn’t affect Seymour at all. The “not retroactive” part only applies to older players who already burned through their eligibility and were hoping to come back under the new system. Seymour isn’t in that category - he still has eligibility left and he’s well under the age threshold the NCAA is targeting. So I would think nothing changes for him coming to Texas this summer. His spot, his timeline, and his eligibility are all the same. The only people who get squeezed by this are the older guys who were hoping for one more year, not incoming transfers like Seymour. Want to thank Joe for posting this....so interesting.
  6. The part that jumps out to me is Baker saying the age‑based eligibility rule won’t be retroactive. That’s exactly the kind of thing that’s going to trigger lawsuits. You can’t create a new eligibility pathway for future players while telling the guys who already exhausted their years, “Sorry, tough luck.” That’s two different classes of athletes overnight. And with NIL in the mix now, players can argue real financial harm from being denied another year. That’s a very different legal landscape than the NCAA is used to. They’ve been getting hammered in court for years, and this is another situation where their logic is going to get tested hard. So yeah - if this rule goes through as “not retroactive,” the amount of legal action coming their way is going to be wild. The NCAA keeps trying to modernize without fully thinking through the consequences, and every time they do that, the courts end up cleaning up the mess.
  7. Season not over yet? Despite this loss, Texas A&M is fighting for a top-four seed, which secures a double-bye in the tournament.
  8. LOL, SEC Guy absolutely owned those Portland stadium radio dudes. They tried to debate him straight, and he ran circles around them without ever breaking character. Total domination. That whole exchange is the perfect example of why the bit worked - he wasn’t just trolling, he was performing, and those guys never figured it out. Legendary stuff.
  9. Ejection....since it was his 2nd ejection of the season, he will miss tomorrow's game
  10. Good grief, we look terrible today.
  11. depends on what part of Chicago you are talking about. I don't think Chicago is a great city at all. It has some bright spots, sure, but the issues overshadow the good for me. It’s not the “amazing city” people hype it up to be.
  12. Kiffin’s absolutely one of the best offensive minds in the game, no doubt. But if we’re talking better, the list is basically Sark and that’s it. They’re the only two guys consistently operating at that level - elite scheme, QB development, adaptability, the whole package. Everyone else is a tier down.
  13. Good info from both of you. With the NCAA dragging its feet, it’s hard to know if this hits immediately or not. If seniors really do get another year, that’s a ton of roster chaos. Texas having two spots is nice, but with the need for a big + limited NIL, it’s tough to see many of those guys fitting unless they’re willing to take less. Most would probably have to hit the portal anyway.
  14. I never watch the NFL Draft because I don’t need 32 GMs reminding me they also have no idea what they’re doing. That being said, any longhorns drafted yet?
  15. I was frustrated too when the departures happened, but it’s really not doom‑and‑gloom. The portal deadline just means players had to enter by that date - they can still choose schools now. There are still plenty of proven players available, and Texas is an attractive landing spot with Booker, a top recruiting class, and a staff that wins. Would I prefer experienced portal players over more freshmen? Absolutely. And that’s exactly what the staff should be targeting. It’s not too late, and it’s not a failure - it’s just the new reality of roster building. I’m confident Texas will add the right pieces.
  16. The talent is wild now. Back in Cheryl Miller’s day, nobody had to deal with Vic Schaefer’s defense breathing down their neck for 40 minutes. 😀
  17. @GoHorns1 @HookemDTX “Y’all are debating the dictionary more than the roster. If ‘reload’ means keeping stars, then no. If it means bringing in elite replacements, then yes. Either way, those five freshmen are the ammo in the reload, so you’re basically agreeing without realizing it.”
