    Just checking in on all the experts who said Teagan Kavan “wouldn’t pitch today”… Because unless my TV was lying, she didn’t just pitch - she ran the entire SEC Championship, shut down Alabama, and walked off with the trophy like it was a group project she had to finish herself. All that pregame certainty about her “maybe coming in for relief” aged about as well as warm milk. Turns out the only thing needing relief today was Alabama’s dugout. But hey, the confidence was elite. The accuracy? Not so much. Even our own mod(not you Jeff) took the L on this one.

    I think it was just an honest hot‑mic moment from a freshman who’s been under a lot of pressure. Wells has played well all year, even if the national awards didn’t break her way, and emotions run high at this point in the season. Once the actual press conference started, she handled herself fine. This feels more like a quick slip than any kind of attitude problem. I’m sure the media staff will remind her about mics being live, but I don’t see it as anything bigger than that

    It’s adorable watching the schools that can’t stay solvent try to write rules for the ones that actually matter. Only in college sports could the JV try to tell the varsity how the game works.

    Texas didn’t win on one play ...but the Maloney-to-Atwood out in the 5th inning absolutely saved the game. Georgia had Marisa Miller charging home, and Maloney fired a perfect throw that Atwood slapped the tag on. If Miller scores there, Georgia goes up by two and the whole momentum flips. Instead, that out kept it a one‑run game and gave Texas the chance to tie it in the 6th and walk it off in the 7th. Not the winning play - but definitely the play that kept winning on the table. To me, that was the most exciting and important play of the game.

    Honestly, I just hope Earleywine didn’t tinker with her too much this year. Atwood’s swing looks different - not necessarily better -- and the results show it. Even when she barrels balls up like she did vs Georgia, the overall mechanics still look off.

    Yep - if Texas wins tomorrow, it will be Mike White’s first conference tournament championship as a head coach. Oregon never had a Pac‑12 softball tournament during his tenure, so he literally had zero chances to win one there. So this would be his first.

    Totally agree - these preseason rankings can’t just be “last year’s postseason poll, but shuffled.” That worked before the portal era, but now rosters flip so hard that last year’s finish barely tells you anything. Analysts actually have to dig into who left, who came in, and how many experienced starters were added through the portal. Some teams lose 20 guys and fall off a cliff. Others lose 20 and replace them with 20 dudes who’ve started 30+ games. If you’re not rebuilding your evaluation from scratch every offseason, you’re basically ranking last year’s teams, not this year’s.
