What's the best case scenario for a potential sponsor? I think a company from Texas like HEB would be cool

This. He was THE guy at OT for Northwestern and they treated him like THE guy with the way they recruited him and the way they put together a 7 figure financial package. Texas stayed in the 6 figures FWIW. On the flip side, he wasn't even Texas' top OT target on campus last weekend and he knew that. If this recruitment was 5 or 10 years ago there's no doubt in my mind it'd be Texas, but we're in 2026 where this is a perfect example of modern recruiting. He's also gonna go play for OL coach Tim Drevno who has a great track record as well. Drevno was with Harbaugh at Stanford, SF 49ers, and Michigan. Drevno also spent time at USC, UCLA, and Ohio State. Both schools checked all the boxes but Northwestern had a bigger financial package, a faster path to the field, just as good if not a better education, valued him more, and were on him earlier. This was always going to be a tough recruitment to win for Texas

To my understanding all-22 footage of CFB is super hard to get. Schools have access to it through PFF or other platforms that create special subscription packages for programs, but those packages aren't available to the general public. If I'm not mistaken I think most of the analysts who have access to all-22 college football film have logins from sources on staff. That's how writers get access to the actual NCAA transfer portal database. But PFF or whomever has their stuff on lock where all-22 film usually gets taken down pretty quickly if it's posted on YouTube or social media. CJ might have more than that but I think it's pretty hard to get for the general public. If you're an NFL fan you can get access to it by paying for NFL+ or whatever subscription the NFL offers for fans to access all-22 NFL film after games have been played. I also haven't seen any live broadcast form of all-22 besides Amazon's Thursday Night Football secondary broadcast that's a permanent skycam angle but is essentially all-22.

Has nothing to do with grades and everything to do with UIL rules on athletes transferring for athletic reasons.

Notes/thoughts on Texas' latest commitment, two of this weekend's official visitors, and one of next weekend's official visitors: North Forney WR Briceson Thrower — AGNB27 Looking back on it, the Thrower recruitment was awesome to cover. It was straightforward the entire time and there was never fluff or much of any misdirection. In fact, I don’t know if I’ve ever covered a recruitment of a wide receiver that had as little drama as Thrower’s recruitment did. He is a great young man from a great family and is extremely likable and easy to root for. And he’s not your regular three-star either. He could very well finish as a four-star and is a player with traits, measurements, times, and the right mental wiring to be projected to the NFL Draft years down the road. I think his commitment was taken a bit for granted given that there was no drama and that it was Texas vs. the field for months, so I just wanted to make it clear Thrower isn’t just a player that can play at Texas, he’s a player who can start and make a real impact in Austin before hearing his name called in the NFL Draft. He’s also a relentless and hard worker who will make the rest of the position room and locker room better. Rankings and stargazers might take Thrower for granted, but Texas fans shouldn’t be sleeping on the young man from North Forney. I was able to speak with Thrower’s wide receivers coach, offensive coordinator, and head coach at Thrower’s ceremony on Saturday and will have quotes from them up on OTF on Monday. Barbers Hill DL Raiden Cook — Houston commit I was able to catch up with Cook while he was in the car on the way home from his Texas official visit. I went into the weekend viewing this recruitment as one that Houston would hold on to, and I still feel that way after speaking with Cook. He had a good time on his official visit and it’s not like Texas did anything wrong, I just don’t see a flip happening here at this current juncture. The Cougars have prioritized Cook more than anyone and in every which way and I continue to think that strategy will pay off for them. Texas A&M recently offered and will host Cook for an OV the June 12-14 weekend. Then he’ll head to Texas Tech for an OV the June 19-21 weekend and he also mentioned he might see Vanderbilt on a midweek OV this week or the next. North Crowley CB John Meredith III Meredith didn’t offer much when I spoke with him coming out of the OV but he still plans to make a decision before the month is over and I still lean Texas over Texas A&M. The nation’s No. 1 CB was hosted by Jermaine Bishop and Jonathan “Deuce” Cunningham and said “it just felt like home” when talking about the visit. Meredith told me he’s still considering scheduling an official visit for the June 19-21 weekend but if you ask me I think the Texas official visit was the last OV of his recruiting process. As OTF has reported for a while, Meredith is playing in the OT7 National Tournament June 11-14 and a decision being made during, before, or after the tournament would be far from a surprise. It’s also worth mentioning Texas A&M is all-in on landing one of Meredith or Joshua Dobson. It will essentially be fiscally impossible to land both. I spoke with a source in College Station earlier today who views the Aggies as the team to beat for Dobson and that the North Carolina native has higher chances to end up in College Station than Meredith does. Meredith will probably make his decision before Dobson does but it was still worth mentioning FWIW. DeSoto RB SaRod Baker — Texas Tech commit I don’t have any new intel to include but wanted to add that a source confirmed Baker still intends to officially visit Texas the June 12-14 weekend. I felt it was worth mentioning with all of Texas-Texas Tech talk on social media as of late. He was in College Station this weekend, will be in Austin this weekend, and Lubbock the weekend after that. Baker is one of only three running backs who will see Texas on an official visit this summer. The others are Texas pledge Noah Roberts, who OVed to Austin this weekend, and Richmond Randle’s Landen Williams-Callis, who will be in Austin on an OV the June 19-21 weekend.

Finney's father is a longtime HSFB coach in the St. Louis area who's now in the Houston area. They moved to Houston at some point in the last few years. Finney coached and call plays (he was OC) for Nick Townsend at Dekaney for a while and was at St. Pius X last year as their OC last year. I believe he left St. Pius X to take a job on the Willis staff this spring but I'm not 100% sure on that. Finney also does some training on the side and trained Ryan Wingo when he was coming up in St. Louis. Wingo has since trained in Houston with Finney. Trey was at Dekaney and played on varsity as a freshman during Nick Townsend's senior year. Trey then followed his father to St. Pius X where he played his sophomore year but is now at Willis after transferring up north this spring. Willis has arguably the best offensive mind in TXHSFB in Trent Miller and I can't wait to see what he does with Trey. He's undersized at 5-9, 165 but is a great player. It'll be interesting to see who emerges as contenders with all of his dad's longtime connections to college staffs all across the country.

Still waiting to hear confirmation the visit is off the books but as Bobby said I'd view it as doubtful the trip goes through.

Love me some Carlton. One of the favorite recruitments I've ever covered. He always kept the main thing the main thing and is a great kid. He embodies the blue collar culture Temple is all about and is the first person in his family to ever attend college. He's unlikely to be the flashy player that Colin Simmons is or that Richard Wesley will likely be, but he provides consistent effort, is willing to do the dirty work, and has all the tools to eventually turn into a day one or two draft pick.

I don't know how much it'd change the potential for 2026 but Jonah Williams having a big summer would be terrific and would vastly change the outlook for the future of the safety room. It would be huge if he can stay healthy through the entire season

I expect the pick to be Vanderbilt. This raises Caleb Siler's priority level for Texas Tech and Northwestern. Siler is now the only OT set to OV to Tech this summer and Northwestern has been extremely aggressive in the Siler recruitment and are also expected to miss on Ngokwere like Tech and Texas are.

LSU is the school to watch. His father played basketball at LSU and is an assistant coach. Mom ran track at Southern

Older brother plays at Tech and I’d expect the younger brother to follow him.
