I know Taaffe has had his injury issues this year but he's taken a massive step back from last year. Thought he'd be able to be a stabilizing voice for the secondary and it hasn't done much of anything. Our guys don't make many plays on the ball, there is also a steep drop off in talent from the starters to back ups (who we're supposed to rely on next year). A&M has the talent to punish us in the middle of the field and on the edges, similar to Miss State but worse. They also have a running QB who we seem to be unable to defend now. I'm expecting another shoot out, I know we have new DB coaches but I was not expecting such a drop off from last year. Especially the guys there all have a good level experience/time in the program. I bet if Ohio State had aired it out more instead of playing conservative they would've exposed this a lot sooner. Anyway congrats to the boys for the win and lets go win next week, see where the cards of destiny land for us and let's start prepping this team for a better year, next year.

Why would his son enroll there when he wouldn't be heading to LSU anytime soon? He's likely to make the playoffs at Ole Miss. The move doesn't make much sense to me. Not saying you're sources are or aren't reliable but I just don't think LSU is the go to move right now.

I'm hearing Oregon...(just kidding I have no idea lol). But realistically, don't think they'll go after him. Another Texas State kid ended up at Oregon and is starting for them, think he was a T though? From the little I've looked into him, he seems like a solid pick up, one of the better G5 prospects to enter the portal.

I think N.Umeozulu and Cojoe probably hit the portal. Unless Cojoe wants to move inside to RG (which he probably doesn't). I think Baxter has had too many injuries to be considered reliable anymore and Wisner is good but will either try his luck in the draft or not be the main back at Texas next year. We don't have a true #1 RB right now, imo. Moore is also someone I could see trying his luck in the NFL regardless. Probably see a few other guys hit the portal, like Roberson and potentially a few other DB's, imo. Not sure what Cruz will do, will he challenge for the starting job at C or transfer? Rev sharing is going to get some dudes in the portal and paid elsewhere, imo. As for what we need or should get. 2-3 G's in the portal to create depth/competition there. Our interior needs to get better. I think Bobby or Gerry has mentioned we need an over the ball DT, as we lose both Shaw and Brevard. That would leave you with just Sharma filling that spot. 1 RB, if you want to run 12 personnel some pit fighters at TE who will actually hit someone and block. Maybe an experienced QB similar to Caldwell again? Defensively, besides the DT I mentioned up above, likely need 1 LB, 1-2 CB's depending on what happens there. 1 S. Potentially going for another K and P in the portal, too.

Problem with PK is he has too much reliance on the passing game coordinator to handle the back end. Similar to his time at Washington with Lake. I think he's made massive strides in his time at Texas but Sark keeps hiring guys that don't mesh with PK very well at all. Akina is a perfect example. Akina is a man specialist. PK wants to run zone. The result is as we've seen. It took Joseph and PK 4 years to get on the same level with each other. Not sure who you'd hire to replace him (not saying I want to or you are) but it's an interesting hypothetical. For the experience these DB's have, the secondary should not be this bad, disjointed or not communicate. Makes no sense to me.

I'm not sure where to post this or if it was even worth starting a new thread. But I got a good laugh out of this video that came across my feed. Already saw one Texas fan make a post there but most of it is OU, A&M, Georgia and Bama fans tearing us a new one for being entitled and all that. Don't forget that all the issues we see this year, were there the previous 4 years. But because of NIL and the portal, he was able to cover dis own deficiencies. Thinking that Sark is going to change his approach on things is wrong. He isn't going to do that, that is reality. He is what he is. Don't forget the two semi-final runs had a bunch of games that were close that shouldn't have been. We are also lucky not to lose 2-3 more games already this year. Having the fear of not being able to find a better HC if he does decide to leave is hilarious though. That would mean you guys don't trust CDC or Eltife to find someone to continue steering the program in the right direction, which is funny because everyone always praises them for all the work that has been done in the athletic department (especially CDC). I don't really care what happens either way. Just want to see a better product on the field than what has been put out there. Right now, Sark doesn't think anything is wrong just that we've been unlucky or whatever.

I will say this though, if Sark does leave, for whatever reason, I have faith in CDC and the guys at Texas to do a great job in replacing him. I'm sure he has a short list already, for a break in case of emergency. While I don't think he's going anywhere, there is definitely some smoke around it. With the poor play on the field, combined with rumours, it's always going to cause issues. I don't know, I just want them to finish off the season with 2 wins but who knows what team is going to show up.

I personally think it's the only hire that makes sense for them. He's from that general area, he's still a good coach despite all the nonsense around him and I think he would do well there. Otherwise you're going to have to take a chance on a guy like Hartline or similar type of thing.
