  1. Maybe, I think if it comes, it will be during the Spring window. But, like I said, I'm more than likely wrong.
  2. If a coach is fired, yes there is a 30 day window, I believe. There could be names in the portal we're not in the know about, but I'd say unless a great option jumps in the portal, you're probably done there until the Spring window and hope you can grab some dudes there. January and Hills will need to come a long big time, too, imo. Missing out on the transfer from UCF was a big hit, imo. Would've been a great grab. I think realistically, you need at least two more guys.
  3. I don't think we'll have anymore attrition of the roster, until maybe after Spring? Could be wrong there, but just my two uneducated cents.
  4. Twitter is a cesspool, I do not peruse it very much. I think you'll find that the loud voices are a minority. The vast majority of fans love Quinn Ewers. He's one of the all time great Texas QB's and he will be sorely missed. The opinion of the few, do not outweigh the many. Just my take anyway.
  5. I think Rod has addressed before why he wouldn't do it, but I can't remember exactly what he said. But he would be good there, even if he could just get in staff's ear. He's usually pretty spot on with his calls.
  6. People make things up like he's the most hated QB, lol. People can't differentiate between criticism and hate. Very few people hate Ewers. I believe most people are critical of his play, at times. But regardless of all that hoopla, he has QB'd the return of Texas Football, there is no denying that. He played his ass off for Texas and you can't ask for anything more than that. I hope he goes to the pro's and kills it there. He has the talent, but I think 3 straight injuries has really hampered him a lot, imo.
  7. I think Rod and Brian said it best on the live stream after the game, go at for 4 straight plays. If you don't get, you don't deserve to win. Not only that, it would give them poor field position. I just didn't understand the play call there. As Brian also put it, high risk/high reward play and it bit us in the ass.
  8. I kind of agree about the 1st point, but also to caveat that, the players were in position to make plays and didn't. You need to be more aware and get after it regardless of the time. Guilbeau was in a perfect spot to make the play and didn't. Same with Taaffe not getting in on that play, instead he took it easy. I think the play call was fine but the execution was not. Also, my only other knock on PK would be stop taking Simmons off the field and don't drop him back into coverage. Let him attack.
  9. I think it's a fair position to hold on them, but I think they are great players. Both will be Sr's next year and still have a lot of upside and room to improve (that is obvious). I understand the concern for the OL next year, but we have to trust in Flood. Though I will say, his OL get's a lot of silly penalties, so he needs to work on whatever the issue is there moving forward.
  10. Imo, I'm not sure how Neto isn't starting right now. I think he's better than Connor and is more of a road grader there, Connor might have him in pass pro? I'm not really sure, but he would be a shoe on in for the starting spot next year, imo.
  11. This would be a good pick up for Texas. I think if you could land him (assuming Moore moves on), having Simmons and Wilson paired together, with guys like Burke, Vasek and Umeozulu backing them up and rotating in would be amazing.
  12. I'm hesitant to post anything about Basketball (as I'm still learning and trying to figure things out) but it does appear we are not good this year. People thought we wouldn't be "SEC ready" in Football, turns out that might've been Basketball. I assume CDC will keep an eye on things, see how Coach Terry continues to do. But he's not had a great go of it so far this year, from the eye ball test. Where is it he's coming up short or needs to do better, to keep his job? Does CDC look for options if this year goes poorly? Let Coach Terry's contract run out? The question after all that, is who do you hire? Does Texas have the pulling power in Basketball that it does in Football or Baseball? Seems like it does not.
  13. Offense needs to help the D out. They played well in the ASU game, final score won't show it or even stats, because they got worn down over the course of the game. Need consistency and to put drives together. We're going to give up plays, Ohio State is a great program and has a ton of great players. I think we'll win 31-24.
  14. Really didn't care to bring them in, on a personal level. Didn't think he was at a good level at USC and had started to trend down. I know we'd more than likely love to take a guy at WR, but I think you'd like it to be a more top end guy. Plus, I don't know if WR is that big of a need right now. But I could be wrong.
  15. The pick up of Shaw is great for Texas. He was one of the guys that I remember looking through the portal weeks ago, thinking he was a fit for what you guys were talking about size wise/production wise for Texas. Hope some other guys jump in or we'll have to wait until Spring window. Would've been great to get the guy who went to Tech, but you can't win every battle.
  16. That is a loss, but not a huge one, imo. We got some dudes at the Edge position. Depending on if Moore comes back next year, it could hurt a little more. But I think Burke has more than earned more snaps than he's been getting. Hopefully Vasek and Umeozulu can come a long, too. Plus I think Jackson finds his way into some play time.
  17. I forgot he was up for a HC job, wasn't sure if he got it. Figured he might try his hand at going to Purdue with Odom and leap frog as being the OC there.
  18. It's not just CDC though, the whole department and leadership at Texas has done an excellent job of turning things around. But I agree with your sentiment.
  19. Imo, the NFL game isn't that interesting these days but If he wanted to go, it would suck for our program but I'd wish him all the best and hope he succeeds. His revival of Texas Football has been amazing. I hope we continue to keep him in Austin for many, many years to come. The bigger question would be, who do you replace him with? Do we want to get into that hypothetical discussion?
  20. Not to be rude here, but Bond is being smart by going to the NFL. He's getting 1st round grades still. Coming back only further increases his chance of getting an injury and not furthering his draft stock.
  21. Bro needs to shut his ass up, if he's not going to call the actual targeting on Bond into question, too. Taaffe's hit was not targeting, it wasn't even called that on the field. If not for Texas letting Arizona State stay in the game, he wouldn't be saying any of this nonsense.
  22. I don't disagree, but we should've never been in that position in the first place. That is not on Ewers either, imo. But actually on Sark this time.
  23. Yards aren't always a great indicator. Yes they gave up a lot of yards, but they were on the field for so long, it's not that surprising. ASU wore our D down over time and struck when they were completely gassed. The O has not helped this D out at all this year, the D has had to carry us with how poor the O has been. They are still elite and have done their job all year. Yes, they will need to play better against Ohio State, but it's easy to blame them for all the woes when the O did next to nothing for large chunks of the game. We allowed ASU to hang around, instead of putting them away.
  24. Oh I know, I'm just saying is all. The problem is, we couldn't afford to let our D get worn down like that with a workhorse like that at RB for ASU. Sark is always talking about complimentary football, yet he never lives up to that, in the majority of his games. I'm happy for the boys and that they got the win. But when you've got a team on the ropes, you gotta put them away. Look at what Ohio State is doing to Oregon and to Tenn. That is how you put teams away. So far we've struggled to do that with Clemson and now ASU. No one can convince me that ASU was this good, that we needed OT to beat them.
  25. I have a bit of a different take. Yes, we didn't play well, at all for a large portion of this game. But I don't think the ASU RB was that great for the 1st half, because we just got after it and sort of punched him in the mouth. Then we let them hang around too long and he got his team fired up. I will say, he is one tough s.o.b and really put his team in a position to win it. But we also handed it to them, because we let them stay in the game. Sark has zero killer instict. He's "all gas no brakes" and yet he's pulling the handbrake and slamming his foot on the brakes every game. He also is very stubborn and even when something isn't working, he will continue to go to it. This is 3 games in a row, where it should've been a complete blow out and we barely scrape by and let the other team hang around. Hell maybe even more games than that. Now, in saying all that, glad we won and we'll have our hands full with Ohio State next week.
