Restaurant Suggestions in Austin!!
Jonas Peterson replied to Whiplash's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Oh boy... It really depends on budget and how adventurous you are food wise. These are some of my favorites, but I don't always go for normal. Breakfast tacos at El Primo on South 1st. It's just a truck, but the tacos are great. I hear Granny's Tacos is great too. If you want a more normal breakfast, I'd try Swedish Hill, they have 3 locations now. Everyone always recommends Matt's El Rancho, and if you love Tex Mex, it's the place to go. I think it's overrated. I much prefer Licha's Cantina on the east side. The happy hour is extremely affordable. Elizabeth Street Cafe is a great Vietnamese on South 1st If you want to try some fancier places I'd try Canje (Caribbean), Oseyo (Korean) or of course Uchi or Uchiko. The happy hour menu at Uchi and Uchiko are great value. Este on Manor is great too. For BBQ I'd try to get into Leroy and Lewis (South Austin) or KG BBQ (truck) at Oddwood Brewing (Manor Road and Airport) If you just want a fun place at a great location, try Hula Hut or sit outside at Gueros Taco Bar on South Congress and listen to music. Happy Hour at Loro is always fun. Sour Duck is nice too, great outdoor place with good simple food. -

That day was terrifying for everyone --- nobody knew how far Al‑Qaeda’s attacks were going to go, and the confusion was real. But a lot of us had the same experience you’re describing. It wasn’t just the Capitol; the whole country was trying to process something unimaginable.

I can see some weird stuff happening in this game. Maybe a safety. Something weird happens though, so I'm going with a bit of a weird score. Give me 25-22 Texas wins. -
Twenty-five years ago, Islamist terrorists waged war against innocent men, women, and children going about an ordinary Tuesday morning. They murdered nearly three thousand Americans in cold blood, hoping to bring a nation to its knees. Today, we remember the evil of that hatred and the greatness of the courage and sacrifice that answered it. We grieve the innocent, honor the fallen, and give thanks for the firefighters, police officers, first responders, and everyday heroes who ran toward danger when every instinct told them to run away. Twenty-five years later, evil did not win. America is still standing. Still free. Still the greatest nation on earth. We do not apologize for that. Never forget. "The Lord is a stronghold for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble." Psalm 9:9 "Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends." John 15:13 "Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good." Romans 12:21

I was at home. I had gotten up and had my coffee and taken my son down the road to his middle school and came back home to get ready to head out into my sales territory in N.E. Texas. My Mother in Law called to tell me the news because she knew I probably hadn't turned on the TV. I turned on the TV and the rest of the day was finished before it started. I just sat and watched it all unfold on the TV. Ended up going to pick my son up around noon and came right back home again and tried explaining was had happened to him. I did a pretty shitty job of it since I had no real explanation.

Addison Bjorn is going to be really good for us. She's a big guard/small forward type that can shoot. She just needs to get stronger. She could be a Paige Buecker type if her game keeps improving. -
We use to camp out at the stadium to get draw, which was random before they instituted the online draw my sophomore year. I remember one of the coaches bringing us food when we camped out. Worse feeling is being early and getting a horrible random draw. At least I never witnessed a "List Eater" fiasco like a&m.

I was working as a consultant for a tech company out of Seattle. I had arrived on the 10th. And the plan was to leave on the 12th. Well that didn't happen. I was in my hotel room watching the horrible news all day. It was unbelievable. I feel there are things we may never know. I am not a conspiracy dude, but there are a lot of worm holes regarding that episode.

They moved from assigned reserved to GA during the late Perrin / early CDC years. This was done when we were quite bad at football (I was a student!) and demand was…muted. Now there is significant “over subscription” relative to availability which drives this line. Think we have <20k student tickets available. Believe there are other rules in place as well which drive qualification for football tickets but someone younger than me can opine. The good news is our students heavily support the team these days!

I was working for the state at the Office of Court administration. It’s right next to the Capitol. We watched the first plan hit and then they told us all the head home after the second plan hit. There was confusion on if this was Bush related (Former Governor) or possible attacks on all capitols. I remember thinking just how unprepared we all were. When the pentagon got it, I realized we were all vulnerable because we were so unprepared. It took time for F16s to get in the air to protect President Bush. I believe initially one of the fighter jets was from the national guard. When all planes were grounded it simply reinforced how vulnerable we had become. Nobody knew if there were more planes out there. I kept waiting to hear if another place had been hit. It was mass chaos. A lot of time has passed since Pearl Harbor. It’s human nature to relax over a period of time. Those next few days were just unbelievable disbelief in what happened and how it happened.
