Or we could just win the games we are supposed to win such as Florida.

other teams have bad conference losses and will get in. if we play Ou schedule we are in, we play vandy schedule we are in, we play Bama schedule we are in. if we play aggy schedule (even with ND loss) we are in, if we play UGA schedule we are in. IF we play ND schedule we are in. If we play Indiana schedule we are in, if we play Oregon schedule we are in, we play TT schedule we are in. you get the point. 2 losses is what matters, not who the loss is to

What happens when Alabama loses to UGA in the championship game and they have 3 losses do they not get an at large bid? They’re not supposed to be punished for a championship loss, just like we’re not supposed to be punished for playing big early season games. Plus they lost to an FSU team that got smoked by the FL team we lost to and beat by OU who we also beat.

I just posted a topic talking about this, crazy world man gonna be sick when Bama gets in over us.

as a season ticket holder i dont want any crap home games.  would much rather see a big match up like ohio state.  gotta start winning them.  Also lets be honest this team was never running the table in the play offs

enjoy watching the playoff from your couch

Will do enjoy crying because we lost 3 games and don’t deserve to be in the playoffs

Going to 9 conference games will automatically give us high SOS which the committee obviously doesn't reward. Going forward there is no point to these games and the goal should make the playoff.

we already have the #5 SOS in the country, teams outside top 50 will get in.

Having though about it, I kind of agree. At first I really wanted these games but If losing them doesn't give you any wiggle room for games in the business section of your season than cancel them. Why bother playing them just so the NCAA can have big marquee games to market to the big networks. I'd rather be 10-2 than 9-3 and have ourselves a spot. Because that's what it comes down to, imo.

If we still had the Florida and Georgia losses, they wouldn't be holding them against us. So I now agree with the sentiment, as much as I like the big game match ups, you lose more than you benefit.

yes, be 10-2 and now we can go play ohio state in the playoffs. but we would be in.

I’d rather be in the playoff with a chance to host a playoff game.

I'd rather win vs Ohio St or Georgia in December/January than September

If we're not ranked above OU and Vandy on Tuesday I'll be calling on the AD on Wednesday to ask them to cancel this game along with Michigan and ND. Everyone please join!

I don't want Texas playing with one hand behind its back in the playoff race. It is idiotic. We need to play Indiana and Ole Miss style schedules like the committee wants us to.

I agree. The committee is dictating that all they care about is loss count. We already play a 9 game SEC schedule. We don't need more SOS so high profile non-conference games are just for the TV networks. You know what make us more money? Making the playoffs and winning championships and we risk that continuing the dice roll non-conference games.

Keep the game. Go win it next year and fast track ourselves to the playoffs while not losing to an unranked team next year. Thats the solution. Just win the ones that were supposed to and don’t get blown out if we aren’t picked to win.

Even more so given we are going to 9 conference games.

This is where is matters moving forward. 9 SEC games a year is brutal but equates to elite SOS each year. Big non-con games aren't needed now and are really more of a risk in the current CFP format.

Tough win against non conference Alabama got us in a couple years ago.

That's because the big 12 was weak, and we needed a quality win to help our case.

That doesn't matter at all now that we are in the SEC. The level of competition is so much higher.

The previous post(s) about cupcake scheduling hit the nail on the head, IMO - the networks won't stand for it.  I grew up watching the OSU - Michigan, Texas - OU, and Alabama - Auburn games, and I have no skin in the game.  Networks want to extend this to OOC games to Get the same results with folks watching a true marquee matchup.

If that's true then Texas will make the playoff field.

If we are left out then big time OOC games will (and ought to be) a relic. I don't want to play at a disadvantage just for the sake of the sport and the networks.

If we are going to do this all by loss column then Texas needs to play Indiana OOC schedules.

Or we could’ve taken care of business when we were supposed to against a 4 win florida team 🤷🏾‍♂️

So Texas is the only team that can’t afford a hiccup?  ND lost to Northen Illinois.  Bama lost to FSU that just got obliterated by Florida.  Texas will most likely be the only team outside of the eventual playoff champ to beat three playoff teams.  Think about that and then get back with me on the Florida loss.

That lose was WAY more than a hiccup when you need overtime to beat a 5-7 Kentucky team and a comeback win against a 5-7 mississippi state squad. Y’all need to come to the harsh reality that we ARE NOT a playoff team this year and you’ll be able to cope a lot better when we don’t make it.

So…. Should Georgia cancel Georgia Tech?  Should South Carolina cancel Clemson?

IF we had a 16 team playoff, we would be in.

Michigan and Ohio State are both coming in the next two years. That’s f’ing awesome.

Adding more teams only makes it worse,  more teams that aren't deserving will be in.

Reduce the number to 8 and have a quality playoff.

Get rid of the stupid committee and let the computers pick and make SOS a strong criteria.

I've been on this one for a while. 16 is a terrible idea. I want to see quality football in the playoffs. Not watch Oregon hang 70 on Virginia. I do no care about North Carolina St's fan base having hope as Gerry would put it.
