horns96 Posted May 22, 2024 Posted May 22, 2024 (edited) This play X play guy reminds of Fred Willard in "Best of Show", talking right past Swindell. ...and more bad base running (forced by chasing runs because of bad pitching). Edited May 22, 2024 by horns96 Quote
Derek Handler Posted May 22, 2024 Posted May 22, 2024 Man, I don't know how Big 12 survives when all their sports are on ESPN plus... 1 Quote
horns96 Posted May 22, 2024 Posted May 22, 2024 as @Gerry Hamilton says, if you're making excuses for your coach and roster depth in the NIL era, you have the wrong coach. 3 Quote
Brian Berg Posted May 22, 2024 Posted May 22, 2024 Maybe it's best if the Horns go "two and cue" so they can rest for the regional. At this point, we're not hosting a Regional, and will be a 2 or 3 seed. Hopefully, they are assigned to a 9-16 seed region. 1 Quote
Neil Leininger Posted May 22, 2024 Posted May 22, 2024 (edited) Pierce hates the Big 12 tournament in the same way Beard did. Edited May 22, 2024 by Neil Leininger Quote
Moderators Blake Munroe Posted May 22, 2024 Moderators Posted May 22, 2024 Here we go, boys. Down 1-0. Let’s see what happens. Quote
Class of 04 Posted May 22, 2024 Author Posted May 22, 2024 O'Dowd isn't an infielder, but he likes to act the part...🤢 1 Quote
Realist Horn Posted May 23, 2024 Posted May 23, 2024 At least Pierce has the team peaking at the right time [/rolleyes] 1 Quote
horns96 Posted May 23, 2024 Posted May 23, 2024 Pierce ends our Big XII run with two bad losses attributable to poor defense, poor pitching and bad baseball. I have a feeling if he jeopardizes CDC's Director's Cup, he's gone (and Stanford is making a run in the Pac-whatev tourney, so it baseball could figure in to it). Not our standard. Quote

Moderators Blake Munroe Posted May 23, 2024 Moderators Posted May 23, 2024 No one should be surprised that Texas did poorly in the Big 12 tournament. They haven’t won it since 2015 and only have six times since joining the Big 12, with four of those coming in about a six year span. Don’t judge Pierce by that, but rather what happens next. 2 Quote

It will be interesting to see how the committee treats Texas after that showing. Wouldn’t surprise me if Texas winds up in a really tough regional like Aggieville as a 3 seed. Quote
dentonhorn Posted May 23, 2024 Posted May 23, 2024 Really doesn’t matter about seeding, this bunch isn’t going to get to the CWS. At least we are SEC ready 🙄 1 Quote

This is just a laughable obtuse statement. Pierce has been a shitty coach since he came to Austin, but don't judge him for the team's continued poor performance in winning championships, because his team has always poored fairly at winning championships. 2 1 Quote

Texas, in general, hasn’t done well in the Big 12 tournament. Winning it a handful of times in 26 years isn’t good. Its not obtuse in saying I wouldn’t base any decision on the Big 12 tournament alone. That would be insanely dumb. Regular season and post season is what should be considered, with post season play being considered the most. Quote

I fully expect that we'll be sent to Fayettenam or Collie Station. No matter the support of Occupy LF and former players, if Pierce doesn't make it to a final in the Regional, he's rightfully done. If you watched the games, this is not a healthy program. Having an assistant coach walk away before the first conference series with no back up plan is not a healthy program. Having no pitching coach is not a healthy program. Having guys playing out of position and giant holes in your roster is not a healthy program. Quote

Texas has found a way to win every Big 12 matchup except one, but they haven’t looked like a team who dominated the conference. At all. Not in the way you’d expect, anyway. Quote
