Starting with freshman guard Aaliyah Crump ... she plans to enter the portal

Crump's offense is good but she doesn't have the quickness we need to play the type of defense Vic wants to play. It was ok this year off the bench but if she was a starter, teams would start focusing on attacking her. She made a lot of mistakes on defense this year that cost her playing time. Still would have liked her to stay but we can find better in the portal.

Kymora Johnson from Virginia would be nice at PG.

I think some questions are fair here. Vic has undoubtedly done wonders here. Just seems pretty crazy if we lose Moore, Carlton, Crump, Lee, and Preston from the team. If it is more than just NIL. I suspect it is  NIL, playing time/offensive strategy , and maybe some personality issues.

But then again gotta wait and see if all that happens, and what moves are made. We might be shooting for the big fish now with $ to spend  and catch em. Vic certainly deserves the benefit of doubt, while he reshapes the team for next year. Will know soon enough.🤟

All of these players entering the portal is why not winning the chip with this roster is so painful. It's not easy building rosters good enough to win it all anymore. If Lee, Preston, and Carlton are leaving, it's pretty clear we're not allocating that much money for the women. Lee is a must keep in my eyes. Why even recruit 5* if they just leave after 1-2 years and another school will get them at their college prime?

Note: Texas has a couple days to counter offer and possibly get them to leave the portal. This might be all postering with the agents to get their clients more money.

All these people downplaying losing Lee are out of their minds. Did any of you watch a single game this year?…. That girl is special. Huge huge huge loss.

With Lee and Preston it has to be money. With Crump and Justice it could be playing time. Itute and Crittendon are better than Carlton. And Bjorn is better than Crump. Jazzy Spaight and Holguin have quickness and are better outside shooters than Preston. I wish Lee would stay. We are Texas. We will fill the slots. I am beginning to reconcile the situation. What can we do? Just wish them well.

Disagree with a lot. All of them except maybe Crump is about money. It will take time for all the freshmen to really learn and integrate into our system. Carlton would have been absolutely the starter and a force on our team. Crump was in a tougher position if Lee was staying and Booker and Lee was in front of her. Preston is a much better defender than either of the freshman coming in. This is where NIL really sucks because the last 2 years of great recruiting just goes down the drain. That's 3 5* talent we've developed entering the portal. We can potentially match some offers and keep them so just wait and see what happens.

Itute is better than Carlton. She's bigger and stronger than Justice. She played pro in Europe. Having said that, I love Carlton. Just like her manner.

Let them all leave, who cares.

Would Shay Holle shot 3 for 23....this is ridiculous that we think we need Preston Lee back if she wants to go to some BMF school.

Please Go!!!  You will love Kentucky!!

Hit the portal troll

Rumors are playing time and drama in the locker room. Money isn’t the issue.

I'm excited about Itute as well but it will take her a bit to get used to the physicality of the SEC.  Justice has already adapted and is more physical than most PFs and can hit 3s, But Itute and Crittenden are more skilled offensively for sure. We need to see who we get out of the portal if we're losing all of our experience except Booker.

Oh really? Drama with who if everyone is leaving? Booker? Playing time is an issue for Crump but Lee, Preston, and Carlton will get tons of playing time.

Rumors are an incident happened in Nashville and things haven’t been the same with certain players and coaches since. Let’s just say the Vanderbilt game makes a lot of sense now. Also rumblings of certain players with bad attitudes. Hence, lack of playing time and trust by coaching staff.

Oh interesting. None of those would describe Lee though. I wonder if Vic's "no heart" call out rubbed some of them the wrong way as well.

Lee is the one that makes no sense to me. She’s been the ultimate teammate. And Preston could be next year’s starting PG, but Texas is looking for one in the portal, so I can see her wanting to leave.

Michigan doesn’t even have WBB money like that and has a team to retain. The top WBB NIL schools are Iowa, SC, USC, UConn and Texas with 7 figures. Texas WBB is not Texas MBB.

Man I’m using them as an example to say “money is money” and if you leave Texas you can still do well in life. The argument was “they’ll regret leaving Texas”, like probably not.

And I answered with very few schools have money in WBB. This isn’t football or men’s sports. Most schools don’t invest in WBB except the blue bloods and new bloods competing for Final Fours/National Championships. Texas is one of the few schools that has 7 figures in WBB. Unless these players are going to SC, UConn, USC, Iowa or Tennessee, the money isn’t there for all players.

Who allegedly argued in the locker room?

At face value this is not good, and I cannot stand how some of these players get developed here and then want to leave. This is lack of character on full display, which will haunt them down the road with their decision making. Weak minded individuals do not handle adversity well. With that, from 10,000 feet….

Carlton - Tough loss. She made a turn this year for sure. I love the way she uses her size, great with put backs, and she has a nice shot. She does not look to score enough however, she looks disengaged at times, and she is too inconsistent.

Jordan - Smart, player who plays hard, and she has a beautiful, but inconsistent shot. She has been developed well. This would be a tough loss IMO. Vic started her all year. No idea what happened in Nashville, and I read that she’s tight with Preston, but where’s the loyalty to the program if she is truly considering leaving?

Preston - Amazing quickness and speed. The staff has developed her into a great defender. I love her ability to take the ball to the hole, and I love the energy she plays with. I believe she can run the point here, but she is not a scorer.  She cannot shoot from the outside, she has horrible rotation, and she is not good from the charity stripe.

Crump - At one point I thought she and Carlton were going to be the difference makers down the stretch, along with our obvious constants. Then I watched her body language (absolutely horrible)…her defense is not good, and she was out of place, at the Michigan game, running rouge along the baseline, which is absolutely unacceptable. She has a beautiful shot, and early on she displayed the ability to slash. I think she has a lot of talent, but it will be interesting if that is ever fully tapped.

Vic is an amazing and demanding coach. Wale up call…so is the real world. These ladies have an opportunity to play at one of the top institutions in the world and to be coached by an elite staff. I wonder if emotions, feelings, and excuses are getting in the way,

Any player who has a problem with Vic staying with Maddie in the semi  game is ludicrous. She’s one of the top 3 players in the nation, IMO the best. They can watch her represent team USA from the couch. Either way, we’ll rebuild. It would be nice to have a point guard that could drain it from the outside and still deliver the rock.

Rori is my favorite player to ever wear the burnt orange. She is the definition of a champion. Holle displayed the same attributes. These “transfers” are missing that. If you want to play and execute on the court, then put the work in, and don’t take the easy, LAZY way out. Quitting is never the answer.

How much money can there be in WCBB given that the sport doesn't actually generate positive revenue? This makes zero economic sense.

As far as these kids are concerned, Vic is an old man who talks too much and doesn't understand the "modern" game.
