Peat has +4.25 wingspan, which is impressive. Seeing Punch in person, not sure he will measure over +4. As a player, Punch is not that level offensive player. Peat is so advanced and talented as a player inside 15-feet. Punch is better on defense, and may be better as a passer from the high-post are and in ball screen game though 1 1 Quote

Moderators Gerry Hamilton Posted 19 hours ago Author Moderators Posted 19 hours ago Isaiah Johnson up 18'ish pounds since freshman season at Colorado. All very good weight, and hasn't hurt him at all. 3 Quote
Deej Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago Gerry have you heard anything about Marcus Spears reclassifying? Quote
Nathan B Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago 247 and On3 both saying Spears is trending to a reclass with Texas being the current leader. 1 Quote
Moderators Gerry Hamilton Posted 17 hours ago Author Moderators Posted 17 hours ago It's a process to possibly get there. A lot of kids are trying around the country. Quote

I don’t see how he’d expect a big role with this current team. Yeah that’s my first thought as well. How would that work from an NIL perspective? Texas has one roster spot left. I assume they’re still searching for a backup big. Spears Jr. could fill that role, but I find it hard to believe a player of his caliber would reclassify to ‘26 and come to Texas and compete with Clark for that backup PF spot. Maybe UK made a power play to see if they could add him as a starting PF to their roster for this season. 1 Quote

James Bianchetta Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago Isaiah Johnson, Goosby, Freeman, Punch, Matas, Mikey, Amari Evans, Marcus Spears Jr as a top 8 is debatably the best in the country. With guys like Bo, Clark, Lewis, Sterling getting more time to develop and play in early season games. Plus you could potentially get everyone back next season for a 2 year window. Quote

Would be insane if Sean Miller, Chris Ogden, CDC, etc. pulled this off. I would be speechless. Would be the most shocking move of the offseason not just for Texas basketball, but Texas athletics period. Just sounds too good to be true, but hopefully it is true. 1 Quote

Nathan B Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago It looks like since Spears was born in 2009 even if he reclassified he would not be eligible for 27 draft. Quote

Why I mentioned inside 15-feet for Peat. But Peat did have a higher 3% on limited attempts last season. Key with Punch, I expect him to make a jump to 30%'ish from 3 this year, and hopefully ascend 3-5% from the FT line. Texas is working with him on this right now and this summer. Getting the guide hand positioned/usage more consistent. Quote

Would love this move then if it came to fruition. A year to learn, play, and develop. Then takeover on his draft year. Edited 16 hours ago by Nathan B 2 Quote
TexTheHorn24 Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago Trilly Donovan on his discord has basically confirmed that his reclassification is in the works and Texas is a leader. I have no idea how he fits into this roster. Quote

Don’t want to count our chickens before they hatch, but this offseason could really give Texas Cam Coleman in January, Isa Torres in June, and possibly Marcus Spears Jr. with some post 4th of July fireworks. That’s amazing. Quote
JMarquette Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago Man, I can’t wait for the closed door scrimmage where we beat someone like Arizona State by 30+ points. That’s going to hit like crack. 1 Quote
ryanN Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago @Gerry Hamilton where would spears hypothetically slide in our team, does he have a shot of starting or at least get starter level minutes off the bench Quote

512Horn Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago Sign Marcus Spears in 2026 class and this is the most talented team in the history of Texas basketball. Quote

Just to add ... Texas already has the most talented team in program history right now. Texas has never had 5 starters that are future NBA draft picks. And a top 8 that will play pro ball on some level long term. That's where the current roster is at. 4 Quote
Horn79 Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago If we always planned for Spears to be the “missing” third big on this roster and this actually comes to fruition, then Sean Miller is a total witch. This would be beyond incredible. 2 Quote
