Not sure if she had any love or hate for Texas growing up. Of course Tech and Sooners both think she's going to them. I'm biased of course but I don't see how anyone could want to go to either of those schools barring money (which Texas has). Tech is located in bfe and the town is boring af (having worked in oil and gas I've had to travel around there many times. Same with ou, there ain't nothing in that state, and then you have to listen to one song all the time cause their band apparently only knows that one song. And then there's the hideous colors. Quote

Have no clue to Texas chances. Question is how NIL plays in her decision. Six figures is a lot of money for early 20s years. My wife got a big promotion by moving to Midland(both of us are retired landman). Quote

She probably commands 6 figures at any of the blue bloods, if Tech comes in with 7 figures like they did with Canady, that would be hard to turn down and I wouldn't blame her. Invested correctly, you're set for a good chunk of life, especially considering softball isn't a sport where there's much money after college. Quote

Texas will use most of its NIL for retention and smaller amount on portal. Texas some great incoming freshman. Quote
Buck Travis Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago (edited) Oklahoma outfielder Kasidi Pickering has entered the transfer portal. Pickering is in the portal with a Do Not Contact designation, a source confirmed to D1Softball. An All-American in 2025, Pickering was also a member of the Women’s College World Series All-Tournament Team in 2024 and a D1Softball Freshman All-American that same year. During her three years at OU, she posted a .384 batting average with 50 home runs, 169 RBIs, 169 runs scored, 35 doubles, and 11 stolen bases. She also owns a .972 career fielding percentage. A native of Humble, Texas, Pickering played high school ball for Atascocita High School and travel ball for Nathan Nelson’s Hotshots organization. Edited 20 hours ago by Buck Travis 2 Quote

HookemTexas Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago Admittedly I don't know too many names outside of Texas, but for next year with Frahm, Pickens, and Canady gone, who are the elite pitchers outside of Kavan? Terry is a maybe because she got hit hard but multiple teams in the WCWS. Miss state's pitcher? Quote

Briski from Alabama was largely seen as a better pitcher than Kavan this year and she's back next year but no one compares to Kavan in the clutch on the biggest stage. 3 Quote

Kavan is like the complete opposite of James Harden, good to average regular season, and the deeper in the playoffs it is, the better and more clutch she gets. 1 Quote

The credits are accepted but in order graduate from Texas one must take 50% of the required hours at Texas. It's 60 hours of coursework "in-residence". So 60 hours at UT to be awarded a UT degree. There are four clear top‑tier returning arms for 2026 besides Kavan: Taylor Tinsley, Kenzie Brown, Ruby Meylan, and Maya Johnson - plus a couple SEC arms who are right on the edge(Briski, Herron, Grein)...Briski is the closest thing the SEC has to a true returning ace besides Kavan but isn't in the Kavan/Tinsley/Meylan/Brown/Maya Johnson tier. If you never seen Maya Johnson (Belmont) pitch before, dig up her tape - Has one full year left and is returning to anchor their staff. She’s the mid‑major monster everyone will talk about next season. Wish we had her. 1 Quote

They’re long‑term pieces, not Day‑1 SEC starters. That’s why Texas is still pushing hard for a veteran catcher in the portal. Hope Texas takes Swan...she can hit, but so can South...Don't know that much about Clemmons. Quote
