TexTheHorn24 Posted June 9 Author Posted June 9 It’s also a great idea to add veteran pieces like Swan, Torres, etc to show the newcomers the elite work ethic they need to succeed and win at the level Texas requires. It’ll be good not just for a year but for the future of the program. 4 Quote

Geoff Eneman Posted June 9 Posted June 9 Stevie South will contribute next year, but give me Swan and have the ability to ease South in without a doubt. 2 Quote

TexTheHorn24 Posted June 9 Author Posted June 9 Mike White will make elite hires no doubt. This also shouldn’t affect the portal at all. We’re Texas. 1 Quote

TexTheHorn24 Posted June 10 Author Posted June 10 Portal commit announcements are starting to flow Quote

Not a superstar, but definitely better than some of the bottom‑third bats they’ve been rolling out. LSU never really gave her a real runway, but she’s athletic, competitive, and actually knows how to survive SEC pitching. She’ll help them - just not in a way that keeps anyone in Austin up at night. A&M's biggest weakness is pitching like their baseball team. They had a fairly decent offense but their pitching just gave those runs right back. 1 Quote

If you never seen Maya Johnson (Belmont) pitch before, dig up her tape - Has one full year left and is returning to anchor their staff. She’s the mid‑major monster everyone will talk about next season. Wish we had her. Taylor Tinsley, Kenzie Brown, Ruby Meylan, Maya Johnson, Robyn Herron, and Lyndsey Grein all graduated and will not be in college next year. I think the top arms will be Teagan Kavan (Texas), Jocelyn Brisk (Alabama), Kaitlyn Terry (Texas Tech), Keagan Rothrock (Florida), Alyssa Faircloth (Mississippi State), Sage Mardjetko (Tennessee), Erin Nuwer (Tennessee), Maddy Azua (in the portal, hopefully to Texas), and Vic Moten (Alabama) in my personal opinion. 1 Quote
HornsInMyRoots Posted June 10 Posted June 10 Madison Azua is on a visit to A&M today 😞 she is an absolute must. 1 Quote

I’m just hoping Maddy is smart enough to take visits and not commit on the spot. Ford is a horrible coach and A&M doesn’t develop pitchers, but she’s a good recruiter. She lies and gives bags. These players need to do their research on Ford as she’s not well liked by past players and has a reputation for having a bad locker room culture. Texas is interested in Azua but I don’t know anything about potential visits. Teagan and Maddy did start following each other on IG yesterday though. 4 1 Quote
HookemTexas Posted June 10 Posted June 10 I am not the best versed in the world of social media, I wonder if the athletes following each other on Instagram is a way for them to communicate and ask questions informally - and this would be situations where having a good culture would help players recruit other players vs. a toxic culture where a player would tell others not to come. Separately, anyone else notice in interviews with the Texas softball players this year always keep saying how much they love each other so much? It's something new to me because you usually don't hear that emphasized to that extent. Reinforces what Bobby said about how close the team is to each other. Sounds like they genuinely are good friends and care about each other. That type of culture is hard to copy without bought in leaders. 4 Quote

Damn, you are absolutely correct. Got my years messed up with mentioning Taylor Tinsley, Kenzie Brown, Ruby Meylan, Maya Johnson, Robyn Herron, and Lyndsey Grein....my bad what about Karlie Keeney - Baylor? She’s the kind of pitcher who frustrates hitters because nothing is straight and nothing is where they expect it. Quote
