England goes up 2-0.

Mexico gets one back and is attacking.

England gets red card.

Mexican goalie fouls England in the box and Kane makes it 3-1.

Dumb question from someone who doesn't watch much futbol 

When there's a foul in the box why doesn't the player who drew the foul take the penalty shot instead of a designated sniper?

The laws of soccer are written that anyone on the field may take the kick.

I wish there was a World Cup every year because it really makes waiting for football season a lot easier 🤘🏻

Yeah I know, but I was wondering why they did it that way instead of having the fouled player take the penalty kick.  It would spread out the goal scoring and make the kick more exciting (lower percentage).

Every 2 years in between the World Cup, Copa America and the EUROs happen. International competition between teams in South America and Europe. What sucks is the years in between

I wish it were at least semi-annual. Waiting four years is too long.

I don’t know why they decided to do it that way, but that is how it has always been done.  I don’t think it would make it any more exciting.

The woman’s World Cup is set 2 years off from the men’s.

It's still soccer. There's not any time of the year that football, basketball or baseball isn't happening.
