Man lol…this game is BANANAS.

England goes up 2-0.

Mexico gets one back and is attacking.

England gets red card.

Mexican goalie fouls England in the box and Kane makes it 3-1.

BANANAS.

Dumb question from someone who doesn't watch much futbol

When there's a foul in the box why doesn't the player who drew the foul take the penalty shot instead of a designated sniper?

Just curious ...

The laws of soccer are written that anyone on the field may take the kick.

Yeah I know, but I was wondering why they did it that way instead of having the fouled player take the penalty kick.  It would spread out the goal scoring and make the kick more exciting (lower percentage).

I wish there was a World Cup every year because it really makes waiting for football season a lot easier 🤘🏻

Every 2 years in between the World Cup, Copa America and the EUROs happen. International competition between teams in South America and Europe. What sucks is the years in between

I don’t know why they decided to do it that way, but that is how it has always been done.  I don’t think it would make it any more exciting.

I wish it were at least semi-annual. Waiting four years is too long.

The woman’s World Cup is set 2 years off from the men’s.

If you mean every 2 years instead of 4, I mentioned earlier that Copa America and the EUROs happen every 4 years as well but it's situated 2 years from the World Cup. So every 2 years there's some type of international soccer competition that happens during the summer whether it's strictly Europe or South America or the World Cup. It's a little better than nothing for 3 years in between but you're still bored out of your mind for those 2 summers in between each competition.

Watched more than i ever have. One thing I have learned, refs suck in soccer too.

Somebody needs to explain the whole extra time thing, from how it’s determined to how the extra time is kept. It sure looks like a mechanism for the officials to keep their thumbs on the scale.

It’s based on how much time is wasted on things like injured players rolling around, celebrations after goals, etc. There is a time keeper who has a stopwatch when all that is taking place and radios it down to the ref afaik.

That I get. But no one knows exactly when it ends or how folks are notified when there’s extra time added during extra time.

The "sissy" flopping is out of control especially on some of the South American teams. Wish they would yellow flag some of that stuff, especially when a guy is "dying" and then all of a sudden gets up with no aftereffects.
