hookem1014 Posted Wednesday at 04:21 PM Posted Wednesday at 04:21 PM There’s an unfair narrative out there with some that VY is some lazy, irresponsible athlete who threw his career away. I hope this doc brings light to what truly went on in his life. He’s a good dude with good intentions and will forever be a Longhorn Legend. 6 Quote
Moderators Jeff Howe Posted Wednesday at 04:35 PM Moderators Posted Wednesday at 04:35 PM I might actually respect Jeff Fisher if he said at some point (he might've said something like this and I just missed it) that he didn't want to draft VY, never wanted VY and took an inkling of responsibility for why it didn't work out in Tennessee. The "he showed weakness" comment in the trailer, out of context or not, is all I need to see and/or hear to know that what I'm asking for is too much. 17 Quote

VY isn't without blame, for sure, but it would be nice if Fisher admitted just a little bit of fault. 15 1 Quote
Paul Jespersen Posted Wednesday at 05:00 PM Posted Wednesday at 05:00 PM I've never seen talent willfully wasted and sabotaged like Fisher did with VY. Who knows what VY's ceiling could have been - like said, he is far from faultless, but he was actively sabotaged and suppressed. Criminal. 🤘 3 Quote

That officially ended what little respect I had for that coach. “Weakness”! Nothing weak about Vince Young. Why didn’t he say thank you for saving his job? 2 Quote

_everyoneshere Posted Wednesday at 07:01 PM Posted Wednesday at 07:01 PM Tennessee has not had a starting QB play more than 5 seasons since Steve McNair. They've been most successful at derailing a promising college quarterback's career. The last 4 seasons have been especially messy, flip flopping from drafting Willis, Levis, and now Ward. V.Y didn't fail in Tennessee, Tennessee failed him and every other QB since. 4 Quote
Texasborn91 Posted Wednesday at 07:18 PM Posted Wednesday at 07:18 PM Anywhere but Tennessee and I think it would have been a better outcome. Still have to make the most of your opportunity in life. 1 Quote
CHorn427 Posted Wednesday at 07:26 PM Posted Wednesday at 07:26 PM So disappointing to see him not come home to Houston. Just having a Texans Jersey with Young's name on it would have been worth it. Literally would have been worth more than literally anything the Texans have seriously accomplished since then. 4 Quote

Agree 100% I really liked Fisher before VY but have zero respect for him and the way he handled that whole situation. Especially the way he handled Vince being missing and fear suicidal after McNair’s death. Absolute disgrace of a coach. They should’ve won the SB with the team that had CJ2k, Moss, and Vince. Don’t even get me started on the benching after 3 INTs and the Kerry Collins situation. Trash trash and more trash. 2 Quote

mmdaytontexas Posted Wednesday at 11:44 PM Posted Wednesday at 11:44 PM (edited) What would VY have done playing for a coach like Andy Reid? Sad pro ending to a career with a very good start. Norm Chow when interviewed after that game in Houston that VY won with a 20+ yard scramble for a TD, said that VY missed two open reads on that play. He seriously said that instead of praising Vince. Both Fisher and Chow were complicit in the destruction of VY. Ya, VY didn't handle the pro life well either, but with a little support and success, how good could he have been? I'll never forgive or respect either one of them. Edited Wednesday at 11:44 PM by mmdaytontexas 2 Quote

I was thinking that as well. Chow was OC and Fisher a former USC all-american. I think Bud Adams wanted VY and that was his pick. Not Fisher and Chow. Edited 6 hours ago by mmdaytontexas Quote

He backed up Michael Vick, but didn't see the field much. He was already ruined by then, and Andy wasn't running his wide open offense he runs today with Maholmes. Also, VY admits he was mentally and physically screwed up by that point. Quote

Also, VY admits he was mentally and physically screwed up by that point. Lots of so called busts managed to blossom with a change of scenery or sometimes two. There was a great A Football Life on the NFL Channel that featured VY and Leinert where both admitted they didn’t work hard enough in the pros because it came so easy for them in college. And, Jeff Fisher was an awful coach. 1 Quote
