OTF Premium Snap Judgments: No. 1 Texas ends non-conference play with a sloppy win over UTSA

The play calling made absolutely so sense unless you look at it like a scrimmage.  Sark could have run the ball and RPO’d them to death all day.  Instead, he had things he wanted to work on with long developing plays.  He knew with his D he was going to win regardless.  The problem is when you are playing against a very well coached (even if completely outmanned) team, they are not going to play along.  Once he got the offense and Arch completely frustrated, he just ran the ball which he could have done at will all game.  Sark does this stuff vs lesser opponents, and Arch looks like hell as a result.  I expect a bounce back next week, especially now that the rat poison is gone after that offensive stink bomb.  Maybe Sark is a chess master (for eliminating the rat poison before SEC play), maybe he is over confident.  Maybe both.

There are no other way to sugarcoat this. W is a W, but Oline & QB were pitiful, playcalling didn’t help either, WRs didn’t get separation. They’re better awake this coming week and get focus. Luckily , the defense was playing good.

As said above, this wasn’t just a hangover ---- it was a breakdown in fundamentals across the board. The WRs weren’t winning leverage early, Arch’s eyes were late on middle‑field reads, and Sark’s sequencing never found rhythm. The penalties killed every attempt at momentum. This wasn’t a talent issue; it was an execution and discipline failure. The road game will tell us whether tonight was an outlier or a symptom.

This crew was the exact opposite as last week.  They called all the ticky tack stuff.  They wanted their camera time tonight

Truthfully, arch will receive far more criticism than the game plan or inability to get separation from the receivers.

I imagine there’s a limited play sheet for last nights game and I feel like Coleman tapped out in the 2nd quarter.  
 

get the W, go out as healthy as possible and have a lot of good film to improve on. 
 

better to make mistakes last night than lunchtime in Knoxville.

Early in the game I thought Sark was just playing around with stuff. Calling things to practice new ideas he had and trying to be cute with his play calls. The downside is UTSA just showed the book on how to beat us this year. Play man and delay blitz the hell out of us. I’m sure Matt Patricia would love to take back his simulated pressure and drop 8 approach now.

It’s past time to bail on Arch. He’s a good runner with a strong arm. That’s it. That doesn’t make a good QB. The fact that Sark has not shown the ability to do more with 5 ⭐️QBs should be a good indicator that he’s definitely no offensive genius. If Texas wants to win titles, it’s time to move on from both. Sark can recruit, but who couldn’t with the resources that Texas has.

After Arch took that uncalled helmet to helmet hit that tore off his helmet, would it have made more sense to let KJ have the next series?

Question for anyone here who played football, unlike me:

With depth comes the opportunity to rest guys – would subbing in the second string O Line as a unit have put some spring where the first team O line seemed a bit dead legged? Basketball coaches who have deep teams often sub by unit – that is where I am drawing the parallel.

And to bolster my suggestion: The D Line does sub freely and they were alive the entire game.  The first OL had played every snap against Ohio State.

Honestly, I’m sick of hearing every Saturday, “Arch had a great week of practice i thought”. What’s very concerning is we aren’t just not executing, but Arch is missing the wide open WRs BAD. It’s hard to stay positive in this team when the QB is so inaccurate. I don’t know man.

Lb play toooo looose for my liking…. We lay a hand on those backs … they be goon down!  Note osu Lb agaisnt us last yr !  We need that version!  

Tennesee fresh qb is a running qb - he is young and fearless… not tasted defeat…. Danger…. Until he gets blooodied - dazed and confused…. He will feel like he is next VY.  Our LB play better be disciplined and get him down.

Tennesse and Florida are my dark horses to UT possible upset.

Qbs that believe in their own super power … young fearless… home game… Will Boom gonna have plan.

yes sark can recruit but we honestly can have a lot of head football coaches with our payroll potential.  sark simply cannot seem to produce an overpowering offense, which he was hired to do.  defense has been much better in his time on the 40 acres. 

The plays were there to make. This is not on Sark. He can’t make the throws or the catches.

He should be able to design plays his QB can execute. 
If Arch is making all of his throws in practice but not in games,  that’s a big problem.

Pleased to be 3-0 but I don't believe THAT Texas offense can get the job done vs our SEC schedule. Arch and company need a really good week of practice and better performance at TN.

Arch is sailing the ball very often. Coach has to speed up the decision tree for Arch again and simplify for Arch, just too much thinking. Compared to several QBs in the SEC on TV yesterday, Arch looks pretty average for the majority of the UTSA game.

Got to play better for sure. Before last night, watching other teams on our schedule play, thought we would lose at least two games. If we play like last night, will be way more than that. I have never seen the insane reaction by a fan base after a win like I did last night on here. From 23 on we are 38-8 with most of those loses to Ohio State and Georgia. Know offense looked terrible and is very concerning going forward but the reaction was worse than Bama fans. Band wagon , fair weather comes to mind.
