For the second straight week, it is all defense.

Star #1 – Colin Simmons

No explanation needed. The most impressive single game performance I have ever seen.

 

Star #2 – Maraad Watson

Watson has exceeded expectations this year and was a force on the interior Saturday vs. Tennessee.  Five pressures, a sack and four hurries on the quarterback, that is phenomenal stuff from the defensive lineman.

 

Star #3 – Lance Jackson

How about nine total pressures from Jackson. We talk often about who will balance out the opposite side of the defensive line from Colin Simmons, well Jackson did exactly that. Good luck defending both guys if that is the performance Texas is getting from each.

 

Honorable Mentions:

Jelani McDonald – Several big tackles, very good in run support and the game-sealing batted pass on the final play of the game.

Hero Kanu – As consistent and reliable as anyone on the defense. Four pressures, a sack and two hurries as well. Dominant from Kanu.

If OL can be star 1 for tOSU, I’m giving star 1 to the DL. Simmons was crazy good  but that was the entire line wrecking shop all game.

The Texas defensive front absolutely whooped Tennessee. Dominated in every aspect of the football game and that's why four of the five mentioned above are on the DL/EDGE

I think it is hard to understand the talk that goes on in the trenches.  Sometimes the raw emotion takes over and unfortunately it did as the young man’s blood got up.  
 

Did Simmons commit a crime, get arrested, assault a female?  No.  Did he embarrass himself and the team yes, but he deserves a pass for all the other good he does.

That was a premeditated celebration.

On the football field, he committed a crime and did it knowingly.

He played great, but that penalty discounts the positives from the preceding 3 plays.  In the stadiumTennessee had no juice at that point.  It provided them an opportunity to grow their confidence, it took an offensive possession from us and changed momentum.

Take that embarrassment out of the equation.  It was one of the momentous plays in the game.  Purely speculative on my part, but I think we score that possession, if it’s 6, it’s probably game over at that point.  That discounts his overall game a great deal as it gave them some life when they had none.

You're not wrong, but it is what it is. He made a crazy selfish decision (which I agree was premeditated) and also had a dominant football game.

Hope he learns and moves on with more dominant play and less bad decisions.

That's because there's never consequences. We are an undisciplined football program and it start with Sark. 10 penalties a game feels like has become the norm around here along with generally low IQ play.

My hope is the entire team learned.  Yeah it’s over and played a role for making the game more memorable too.  The penalty is part of his performance and impact on the game.  That’s the message I hope each player gets -  one play can be very impactful on the game.

Im not asking for any repercussions although I’d hope there might be something internally.

The team didn't learn. Raleek had another celebration that could've been easily flagged later in the game. Again, there are never consequences coming from the leader of the football program, so this ish will continue. We will always be undisciplined and highly penalized under Sark.
