Moderators Gerry Hamilton Posted 2 hours ago Moderators Posted 2 hours ago This is like watching the Nick Saban documentary all over again This really is what being the most physical football team is all about in a game in which physicality at the highest levels are required 1 Quote
drag worm Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago (edited) I can’t stand Kirby or Georgia or their “Go Dawgs” fan base, but he is 100% a bad ass head coach. The ultimate maximizer of talent and situational football. And to your point a true belief in a physical power run game. The complete opposite end of the spectrum from the finesse scheme and undisciplined football that Sark deploys. Edited 2 hours ago by drag worm 4 Quote

Big Tex Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Smart and Day know that a big part of college football (not NFL) is emotions and getting young men fired up. i’ve said it before on this forum and it was ridiculed for it but contrast the game day styles of Day versus Sark. Day is running up and down the sidelines, yelling at guys and refs, and extremely hands on. Sark is quietly taking notes and reading his play sheet. The latter is what you want from an OC, not a HC. The team adapts the personality of its coach and it’s why I believe we often come out flat and stay that way for most games. 1 1 Quote
hookem1014 Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago (edited) There’s just some juice Kirby’s teams have that make me jealous. Some of our wine and cheese fanbase would call this classless lol Edited 2 hours ago by hookem1014 1 Quote

Not a chance, go listen to the OSU half time speech. It was Becton having to lead that charge. Sarks words sounded like he was addressing junior high kids, Teams take on the personality of their head coach, and there’s a reason Saban and Kirby win at the level they do. Their programs are built on toughness and relentless intensity. Texas’ offense consistently lacks those qualities, and that starts at the top. You can’t expect a team to play with an edge when its own coach doesn’t demand it. Quote
ClubWhatever Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago (edited) Kirby is a gigantic douche bag. Speech or no speech. Do I wish he were our coach? If he lost the visor, yes. Edited 2 hours ago by ClubWhatever 3 Quote

rgrhorn Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Kirby isn’t ever coming here but I’d take him if he would and I don’t give two shits about his visor. He could use a better barber though! 1 1 Quote

The absolute worst part of this board is seeing you show up anytime something bad happens after you disappear during all the good moments. You have no idea what is or isn’t said in the Texas locker room before a game because we don’t have people leaking unedited pregame speeches on Twitter. What you get is an edited version from the media team. If you want to believe Steve Sarkisian has never yelled before a game or during halftime, go ahead. Hookem72 Posted 52 minutes ago Posted 52 minutes ago Different players respond to coaching differently. Kirby recruits kids that respond to his style. No one can say Georgia is not physical or they are soft. Coach Boom brings it on defense for us. Sark is definitely more cerebral and I can see how he tries to reach the kids through mental approaches to problem solving and unity. His meditations and culture days are good, but you gotta be tough too. Our offense is finesse and is not tough. That is just straight up a fact. And that is just straight up a reflection of who Sark is. He can’t be something he is not, but he needs to figure out how to reach his team and overcome the dumb penalties and lethargic stutters. Kirby is an F350 diesel that always starts, chugs along, pulls whatever load you put on it and almost indestructibly tough. Sark is a vintage Lamborghini that looks awesome in the garage until it breaks after driving it a few miles at 190. Then there is Elko, who is basically a roadside bomb waiting to blow up his team and the fanbase with it. Just is what it is at this point. We can’t fix it on OTF, but I guess we should be thankful we have a Lamborghini and not a car bomb. Quote

Personal insults aside, you’re arguing against a point I never made. I’m judging what’s publicly shown, and there’s a clear difference in the intensity, passion, and fire those clips display. Nobody said Sark has never yelled in a locker room. The question is what his teams consistently show on the field. Discipline, toughness, and accountability have been issues, particularly on offense. If you can’t separate criticism of a coach from a personal attack, that’s your problem, not mine. Quote
Ambassador of Texas Posted 41 minutes ago Posted 41 minutes ago Sark is who he is. He’s an X’s and O’s guy and good recruiter. He’s not the fiery coach who can get everything out of 18-21 yr olds. And yes, teams take on the coach’s personality- see Muschamp’s D in contrast to Sark’s offense. Kirby, Saban, Day, Meyer all emphasized - and demanded - physicality in all 3 phases of the game. This is a game of imposing your will, not X’s and O’s. 2 Quote
