Arch is not accurate, he can’t see the field or handle a blitz. Quite certain the NFL is seeing that. He has a strong arm and is a good runner. Those are gifts, he is not gifted right now in being able to process and really deeply know the game or offense the way he should. Quote

They just don’t do it very well. He’s been here four years and doesn’t know the offense? The coach/oc has not changed. How many more years does he need? 3 Quote

Offense would probably look more like when Ewers played, but you'd hope for more athleticism on the pocket than that. Remember, all we heard in the spring was KJ moves the ball…. Kinda makes me think he would be a good option to try 🤷🏻 2 Quote
smokeymcbevo Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago What other levers does sark have on offense besides benching arch at this point? It’s his last play before folding the cards. He is stuck between a rock and a hard place. He bet his tenure on Arch and it went sideways for whatever reason. 1 Quote

I said you have to bench him and that he may not be the QB for Texas. 1 Quote

Tenn. D yesterday made him look like , well, like Arch has looked in some games. I think one reason we lost yesterday is going for it end of first half at mid field with two TD lead giving them short field to go down and score. We can not pick up fourth and one . I think Arch needs to transfer and play another year. Go to Indiana or Kentucky or LSU and see what they can do with him. Really like the kid but not working out here. By the way, we are not only ranked team to lose yesterday. Never seen anything like yesterday. Can we say parity? Quote

But with if your QB is deficient mentally during games? Why are we trying so hard to make something work that obviously doesn't fit? Right now Arch and Sark are a square peg in a round hole. It's hurting Sark, Arch, and the team. Something has to give but I'd prefer seeing how much Lacey can handle Sark's offense over some Tebow like ugly offense that would likely result in Arch getting hurt anyways. If Lacey is accurate and makes quicker decision, we can run at least 75% of Sark's offense. Right now I think Arch only fits about 25-30% of it. Though I don't disagree with Sark receiving a lot of the play calling blame, I think there's a limit to "dumbing down" the offense that crosses the line of "you don't have a quality QB" and I feel like we are there with Arch Manning. If he doesn't even use his hot routes or dump offs, how much of the playbook do we really want the playbook to be reduced just to make a said player the QB? Sark makes the big bucks. He needs to start making tough decisions that warrant that salary and stop looking like his hands are tied. Arch is in a lot of TV commercials, and he hasn't done anything. When success comes before results, the kids get spoiled. Arch is half a season from being a total bust. Quote
Joe Naural Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Arch gotta go Portal… at this point! Bench Arch …. Start Lacy … thats it….. Florida changed qb midseason…went for it 4 th n 12. Saved their season ! Lacy / Dia gets this team rolling even w 1-2 losses till traction….recruits see it … players see it … they believe. Arch is Gone to portal! Texas must play Lacy- Dia Competition. hell let their be a allout competition btwn them Arch must sit … he is 3 rd string til one gets hurt! Quote
ChanmanV Posted 3 hours ago Author Posted 3 hours ago 10 hours ago, HalfmileHorn said: Best to play our best players, always. That should be rule 1. When in doubt, see rule 1. Our best players right now are not always seeing the field and have limited snaps. I like Arch, and it's been novel for me, I watched his grandpa play with a broken arm in the Gator bowl - no I don't really want to say what year that is. AM is more like his grandpa than his uncles. But I've seen a lot of bs in my time, and I've seen us take a monster-dump in the middle of the bed more times than I care to recall. You can't reserve a position for any player and pretend you're having a real competition. And coaches that aren't willing to look in the mirror don't help matters. Imho, we're easing into a downhill slide and I'm not sure I'll be around to see us climb out of another one. I definitely feel this could be the beginning of the end of the Sark era for us. It might be in a couple years that he moves on but his ego, stubbornness, and loyalties keeps him from ever being an elite coach. He's a good head coach when it comes to recruiting/branding side of the job but when it comes to the football itself, he's been failing for awhile now because there is no accountability for the core of the offensive coaches. Flood, Milwee, and Sark as the playcaller would have been let go by now by the top coaches purely on performance. Outside of the the tackle position (1 first rounder, 1 second rounder), Flood has been terrible developing and recruiting the center and guard position. Jake Majors was our only decent center and he was from the Herman/Hand era. Cruz was a disaster and we've yet to see Christian. Connor, Campbell, Hutson, Robertson, Kibble, and Stroh have all been bad at protection and just average at run blocking. Nick Brooks transferred. That's a horrible track record for 6 years. Only 2 of those years our OL has not been on of the biggest weaknesses of the team. Milwee's biggest strength is recruiting but Quinn and Arch have had flaws from the get go that never improved. Quinn had bad footwork from day 1 to the day he left. Arch's decision making is arguably worse now than he was as a freshman. It's crazy how limited Sark's playbook is right now with Arch. At least with Quinn, he was very good at running Sark's pre-snap eye candy. Arch can't even do that right now. So you have to question, did they recruit the right QBs for their system? Or are they just inept at building up and developing QBs? Whichever way, it's been a failure as a coach. So the question is why is someone like PK that for the most part produced quality defenses fired before guys like this. My guess is they are "yes" men Sark likes to have around or they are his buddies (include Jeff Banks in that). At some point every head coach has to protect himself by scapegoating his assistants. I think we're getting close to that when it comes to these guys, but ultimately it will be Sark's demise as long as he is the playcaller too. Chesney and Stein are showing you what you can do with even limited talent when you're team has an identity and are discipline. 3 Quote

I do not recall any 5-10 yard crossers at all in the last 3 games. Maybe they were there, but I don’t see them. Seems like we exclusively run routes outside the hashes to the boundary. Exactly 💯 The middle of the field has been abandoned. I don’t think there's been a TE target in the last 4 games either. The wheel route to the RB is not being used either (Jaydon Blue) ran it perfectly. 1 Quote
Hookem72 Posted 57 minutes ago Posted 57 minutes ago So what is more telling to me is how infrequent the opponents LBs hang back over the middle or where the safeties play. I would like to see if someone more knowledgeable and with access to All22 can look at it from a defensive standpoint and see how they play us. I have a very strong feeling that there is such a low possibility of us throwing short middle throws that they don’t even use LBs to defend it. Quote
