Marcus Myers Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago (edited) I have a TON of respect for Tillman Holloway. My redshirt freshman year as a linebacker at Texas was Tillman's senior year. On the field, he was an animal and not someone that made practice all that fun for a young defensive player still trying to figure out college ball. Off the field he was a fun-loving guy that always had some silly antics in the locker room and at the same time, some thought provoking words he'd speak. The latter part of that statement continues to be true to this day. His tweet below, while long, deserves its own thread, IMO. Edited 1 hour ago by Marcus Myers 23 3 Quote
HookemTexas Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I saw that yesterday, 100% agree with him. The HC has too many other things he's gotta worry about in today's game. Need someone whose job is solely the offense. And it ain't Kyle Flood as well. 5 Quote
Jbro52 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago (edited) I agree @Marcus Myers but the issue I see is sark didn’t hire an offensive analyst like he did last year with Neal Brown who you could hand the play sheet to. Idk if Flood or Milwee has called plays outside spring games. Also the opening script has worked do we still go with the opening script then let someone go in game? Edited 1 hour ago by Jbro52 Quote

And I don't think Tillman was truly saying it NEEDS to be Flood. Just that it has to change from what it's been to this point. 6 Quote
SB21 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Well said Marcus, and glad Tillman all that cause coming from former players I would hope makes Sark listen a little bit compared to all the noise from social media I’m sure gets relayed to him at times. there’s no way we should be struggling this bad on offense this year. It’s time for him to look in the mirror and figure this crap out or it’s gonna be a really rough/sad year for us 2 Quote

I wish I had the answers for you @Jbro52. There's got to be some type of significant shift bc what is being trotted out there is not working. Sark, IMO, is a great play designer that doesn't have many answers beyond the opening script that show continuity, easy answers and things that put his offense (and defense, for that matter) in the best position to win. 4 Quote

We've reached the halfway point in the season and it's gotten worse from game to game. There's not much time left to figure it out and none of these issues are new ones. 7 Quote

None of this is new and all of the problems should have been addressed but it’s gonna be real interesting to see what changes are made next week. if we lose to Ole Miss or LSU then it’s gonna get ugly but if we lose to both then the season is a complete failure….. and that’s on Sark’s shoulders as well as the players on offense. Robert Gilbert Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago (edited) I agree with everything he said. I have always defended Sark but I now see he needs to step down as OC. Tillman’s comments on Arch are spot on as well. Edited 1 hour ago by Robert Gilbert 2 Quote
General Grant Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Marcus what would you do now as far as a play caller? AJ? Postseason yeah a full reboot. But what now. I’m lost. Respect you a lot 1 Quote

I could not tell you one way or the other what Milwee's play calling could look like. Maybe it's Sark is heavy with the script and then let Milwee call it from there which could give Sark the opportunity to focus more on situational needs? I don't know. That's why this is all so frustrating. Hell give it a shot. Everything should be on the table. Could it be worse with someone else calling it? That's where we are. In year 6. 5 Quote

Any clue on what Paul Chryst is doing right now? Bring him back in and give him the play calling. Quote

A quarter here and a quarter there but overall it’s regressing bad. I doubt anything can be done about it this year. We aren’t magically going to figure it out in a week of practice. We’re going to lose several more games so everyone needs to prepare for it. CDC is going to have a choice to make here shortly. Let Sark hire an offensive coordinator or cut ties and start over 2 Quote

Marcus, how much do you attribute to the play calls versus the player? We saw the change when they simplified the playbook for Vince. Do you see a similar upside for Arch. Vince could read blitz and either get rid of the ball or take off. I don’t see the same out of Arch. Quote
Atticus Posted 54 minutes ago Posted 54 minutes ago (edited) Respectfully disagree with him with respect to Arch. Sark's playcalls leave much to be desired for long periods of the game, it's been evident with multiple QBs. That speaks to poor QB evaluation/development and/or poor execution. Arch isn't seeing the field and making problems for himself with his pocket awareness though. He's had QB coaching since he was a kid, and he showed better pocket movement last year. Plenty of blame to go around. Sark, Flood, Arch all contributing to this. Only change we can credibly make in-season is by seeing what we have in KJ Lacey and hoping he can execute the plays Sark wants to run for him. Hopefully he shows more pocket awareness/movement. Not sure if it's Arch's foot injury but that is one of the more glaring regressions in his game year over year. Edited 53 minutes ago by Atticus 1 Quote

I agree. Sark needs to step down as OC (probably not gonna happen this season, I would become even a bigger fan if does do that). I posted Tillman’s comments on Arch because there is just too much vitriol aimed at him (here and nationally) just because he has not lived up to unrealistic expectations placed upon him by others. I have never heard Arch make any comments about him being the best ever, being as good as his uncles, or that he deserves to be winning national accolades. That is all on the media and the fans. 1 Quote
JMarquette Posted 52 minutes ago Posted 52 minutes ago As bad as this sounds, I don’t think changing play callers salvages the offense. There are personnel problems as well. Sark stinks as an OC from a development, construction, and play calling point (everything). 2 Quote
HornsD1 Posted 50 minutes ago Posted 50 minutes ago There is just a multitude of problems that has been have been consistent over the past 6 years and it still hasn’t been addressed. Sark is great at the opening scripts but the in between is terrible because when opposing coaches adjust it’s like he’s lost all his brain cells Arch this season isn’t helping either he’s completely lost his confidence and it’s the same response post game every week “i didn’t play well enough gotta play better” We honestly should have saw this coming when the reports out of Fall camp was Arch could’ve been sharper in the scrimmages etc. Also what has happened to Siani and baker they had glowing reviews during camp and they get whipped almost every play 2 Quote
westx Posted 49 minutes ago Posted 49 minutes ago Problem still remains that Sark has no answer for when defenses send 6 and 7 guys after Arch. Every DC has looked like a genius against Texas and then go back to reality when they play other teams. I am assuming Sark has removed all bootlegs, TE slants and draw plays from his playbook because these aggressive defenses have not been punished for their aggressiveness. 100% on Sark Quote

Granted if Arch can’t react to a heavy blitz it’s on Sark to find someone who can. Quote
OTFBrandon Posted 26 minutes ago Posted 26 minutes ago @Marcus Myers my question to you is, why has Texas regressed, specifically Arch, in the same playcalling system from the year prior? Something has to be going on behind closed doors that we don’t know about, because it’s almost impressive to have regressed as an offense with all the talent you have. Just doesn’t make any sense to me. I guess there’s just no air in the atmosphere offensively. Quote
