I'd want Mack as far away from the program as possible anyway, but after listening to his views on NIL yesterday, at a time when Texas is close to potentially running a train on college football for years to come.... yeah still as far away as possible.

Del Conte is savvy, if Mack really wants to start getting involved in “fixing” NIL you can bet he’ll pull him back into the fold somehow. Honestly, I’m not sure how much Mack would really contribute to game planning, coaching, or player development. Not even sure he’d be good as a figurehead like DKR because I think he’s still insecure about his legacy here. As sad as that is, if he’d won that Bama natty in 09 and if we hadn’t been f’ed out of a chance in 08 it would be very different. I love Mack and always root for him, hopefully we can find a smart way to have him back in Austin.

Love Mack, but he needs to sit his ass down and enjoy retirement man. At some point you gotta hang it up.

This! Thank you for your Texas time, well most of it ha! Enjoy whatever life you have left , but leave Texas out of it please. We are doing just fine. But I trust the powers that be in Eltife, Hartzell and CDC and Sark to understand the pitfalls here. Open a cookie shop with Sally 😂🤘

I'd cry too but because it would absolutely be the worst thing Sarkisian and CDC could do to the program.

Prez position of glad hander and big money collector of  funds from BMD yo

Mack would bring value in this role. The man is gifted when it comes to shaking hands and getting checkbooks opened.

and also took it to the bottom

We had more problems than Mack in those days. His decade of dominance more than makes up for whatever happened when he left.

Mack is the second greatest longhorn football coach ever. No reason to stay bitter.

Mack literally tried to burn the entire thing down and did int a lot of ways on his way out. No reason to not stay bitter.

No, send him to Florida to play golf. We certainly don't need someone complaining about something that gives Texas a competitive advantage like NIL.

Mack spent the last few years here destroying the legacy he built. Then in the final days he poured gasoline on it and set it on fire.

I know the program wasn't performing in his final years, but can someone clue me in on what he did on the way out that was egregious?

Mack cannot be allowed within 1000 feet of any athletic department role.  Given influence he would immediately subvert Sark's leadership of the football program and establish his own power center operating toward his personal agenda.

Give him nothing.  Nada.  Not even fundraising.

A lot of petty stuff, highlighted by hiding out on a "recruiting trip" in Florida so he couldn't be fired, helping to tank the Saban deal, and encouraging our committed recruits to look elsewhere. It was bad.
