I know it's not guarantee that we make the tourney but we've at least done what we needed in the SEC toruney, right? Get at least two wins.

Even with a "magical run" the program trajectory and fan attendance at Moody are not in his favor.

If Texas wins two games in the tourney, tough to let a coach go. Would likely be a kick the can down the road for a year scenario.

Apparently there have been Big Cigars who never wanted RT, and there are fans on every website who despise him.  I think a fair assessment of RT is that he is a high floor but low ceiling coach, and there is pressure to find a high ceiling coach. 

What RT will get from a third NCAA appearance is another HC job and a reduced buyout for Texas.  He is a good enough coach to upgrade a lot of programs, given some support.  He is by all accounts a fine person and I wish him well.

If he is asked to remain I hope he is given a bigger NIL purse.  If he is released, I hope his successor is given a bigger NIL purse. 

I would like to see Weaver, Pryor, Codie, Vinson, and Pope come back, regardless.  Adding the right portalers and freshmen to that group could create a team with at least some semblance of togetherness from the gitgo. The "right" portalers would include at least one high quality distributor and one high quality BIG, at an absolute minimum, plus the best five remaining players available to fill the roster.

I'm not sure how this works but didn't CDC have a part in Shaka to Marquette to clear the way for Beard? 

Assuming we perform to season baseline the rest of the way (1 or 2 more games total) , Is this how its gonna shake out again, if the right guy has been identified and agreed?

He needs to let a few assistants go. I think going from Bob to Frank is a huge reason why our half court offense looks so awful. Haith is a good recruiter, but we are seeing why he's never been a successful head coach, he's a bad offensive coach. This team has way too much offensive talent to be this inconsistent.

If Terry somehow makes it back, he's currently 9-3 in the post-season at Texas, he will likely have a decent pool of players returning.

That's a pretty decent athletic starting point, though the offense would be abysmal with no true PG and really a lack of shooting across the board.

There is video footage of Haith drawing up a play from yesterday. So what else does he need to do?

Personally I'd like to see less disparaging comments about RT, making him a dead man walking. 

He knows UT expectations, he's said so.  CDC will evaluate the product on the court, without fan complaints at near the same levels as parking problems and bathroom lines.  If there is an upgrade to be made, it will be done, at the earliest time feasible. 

Meanwhile we should enjoy this team which may end up no worse off than those coached by Self, Calipari, Few, etc if the metric is second weekend. Or Barnes, Beard and Shaka for that matter. Or Buzz and Porter.

March Madness is an exciting exercise in futility. In 36 seasons games, Kelvin Sampson has more NCAA violations than elite 8 appearances (3). UH has as many championships as Texas.

I would have just turned the offense over to Haith ... RT and McClain run the D ... that didn't/hasn't happened.

I think the well has been poisoned to the point that it will affect attendance if he is retained. But that's just me.

Looks like Iowa is pulling the plug on McCaffery.  I wonder if this is due to fear McCollum will be hired somewhere else if Iowa doesn't act now.

We have no evidence of who Presley, Codie or Vinson are. I'm more inclined to believe they are JAGs than guys who will be contributors next year. There is very little Nic Codie showed this year that you couldn't find if you threw a rock out the portal window and asked it to hit a forward.

That is a bleak roster outlook and that is assuming all the players who are eligible to return, would return, which almost never happens in college basketball.

There will be nine (9) open roster spots. You’re left with a core of young talent, some who didn’t have ample on-floor opportunities to know. Nine (9) open roster spots is a luxury. Talented Texans who are already there always have to be included in the equation to build continuity and Longhorn pride. In this era, coaches who continue to develop players will have an advantage. There are also Texans playing well in other parts of the country who may want to come home and represent their state with pride. Nine (9) open roster spots…that’s a rotation.
