Saw this mentioned in another thread and it could be a good offseason thread. I'd like to hear @Bobby Burton @Jeff Howe @Blake Munroe @CJ Vogel @Gerry Hamilton opinions as well.

Lets break this into 3 categories being men, women, and coaches to start. If you want you can add your overall but I think splitting them into men's and women's makes sense and could give more recognition to the women's side of our university. Lastly coaching would be a fun and exciting to hear some different perspectives on.

Men: Vince Young, TJ Ford, Houston Street, Ben Crenshaw

I give Vince the nod here over some of the other football players in our history because he's considered a top 5ish QB in the history of the sport and his on field performance in leading Texas to a national championship. I also give TJ the nod here because of on court performance and leading Texas to the final 4 while KD was bounced in the second round. I went Street over Clemens because of overall collegiate career accomplishments over Clemens.

Women: Cat Osterman, Madisen Skinner, Clarissa Davis, Sanya Richards Ross

I think Booker could make a run for Davis depending on how the rest of her career goes.

Coaches: Darrell Royal, Eddie Reese, Cliff Gustafson, Jerritt Elliott

As much as I love Augie and his overall meaning to the sport of baseball I gave Cliff the nod here over him strictly based on performance at Texas.

I like this conversation topic.

Men: Vince Young, TJ Ford, Brooks Kieschnick, Earl Campbell ... I don't like the two in one sport, but this feels necessary.

HM: Leo Neugebauer

Women: Clarissa Davis, Cat Osterman, Logan Eggleston (Just over Skinner), Reese Atwood

Coaches: Eddie Reese, Darrel Royal, Jody Conradt, Jerritt Elliott

Dave O'Niell deserves his credit for rowing as well.

I completely agree with trying to avoid two from same sport. Good call on Brooks my brain went derp on that one and he should be there instead of Street. I said in the live stream this morning that with her current career path and a potential national championship that TK could replace Cat as the GOAT for Texas Softball. She will never reach Cat's strikeouts but the game is far far different and offense is far far better during TK's era than Cats.

Jody is a good call to get a woman on the Mount Rushmore for coaches and love that pick from you!

It's a real fun conversation and with as many legends Texas has produced in a wide variety of sports, hard to pinpoint exactly four.

Kavan is going to finish with one of the more decorated careers in Texas Softball history if they finish the series out against Texas Tech.

Great list - so many greats...

I love Vince, and he is probably the right answer, but I'm w/ CJ - you can't leave Earl off any list for Texas football. 1a and 1b in my mind. The NC and undefeated season give VY the slight edge, but Earl remains my favorite player all time.
