I think this is wishful thinking. It wouldn't surprise me if Baxter missed the whole year. His injury was really bad, and his rehab will be at least 14 months. Maybe he plays in November/December if we're in contention for a championship.

I must be missing the joke? He's currently a full participant in 7 on 7, on June 13. Almost three months before our first game.

7 on 7 is an exercise, not real football.  I doubt he is cutting very hard in those drills, yet.

The larger point is that he has been cleared by our medical staff. In June. So, I don't think we need to be worried about Baxter missing the entire season that starts in three months.

I do not think Baxter has been cleared for full contact football by the Texas medical staff, yet.  Only light workouts for now, I believe.

Let Baxter rest the first 4 games and hopefully be as close to 100% by the time SEC play starts

That would be my plan. Even then, I wonder how much they will be able to get out of him this year. Fingers crossed.

It's already been 10.5 months since the injury. 3.5 months more would be October 1st

It's only been about 9.5 months since the surgery. He's on track if he's doing a little work with basic agility. But that part takes a while too. I've been through this process myself twice (with ACLs) and did a LOT of reading about rehab.

Baxter didn't just have an ACL tear, though. He tore both the ACL and PCL. I don't know for sure, but he likely had some meniscus damage and maybe even bone damage. It was a bad injury.

Report from SI on surgery

I hear what you’re saying, but…

Don’t expect him to be full go until September, if then.

If CJ is ramping up through first half of season and full strength by Georgia, our RB room could be real strength going into the playoffs.  hook em!! 🧡🐂🤘🏼

He is not running full steam whether he’s a full participant or not.

I believe it was the lateral collateral ligament (also called tibial collateral ligament), not the PCL, that was surgically repaired

I get the feeling nobody on the thread has a clue when CJ will be ready to go.

Not even Baxter is certain yet. This is a healing process and it has to be total before he tests it and gets in game shape. Give him all the time he needs.
