Get over it and don’t read too much into it. This isn’t any different than the general UT hate we contend with every season every game. How is it different than being ranked #1 during the season last year. We lost that ranking after UGA loss but kept fighting and were right there at the end. Keep your eye on the prize and don’t get caught up in the hype, good or bad, and it’s all there for us!

It’s the first time in the history of the Coaches Poll that Texas will enter the season as the No. 1 team in the country.

Jeff - For years I have heard that the HCs don't take the time to actually input to the Coaches Poll. I've heard that most HCs have a staffer follow the Poll and provide the input.

Is it true? Or do you know if most HCs actually follow the Poll and provide the vote themselves?

Thanks!

I've no problem with it and it doesn't worry me. My only "problem" with it, is how does Ohio State, the national champion, not start at #1? That's how I think these polls should go.

Embrace it.  Sark's experience at Bama should help tremendously in how to handle it.

Yep.

And further back he spent several years as an assistant/coordinator at USC under Pete Carroll. Those teams were frequently living in the #1 slot and rarely lost big games.

Coincidentally enough, the Texas game for the natty was the only big game I can remember those teams dropping.

If they lost it was usually to some unassuming unranked Pac 12 opponent on the road haha. They were generally free money in OOC, ranked matchups, and major bowl games.

Saban + Carroll mentorship is about as good as it gets at the college level.

Good point,  it's one thing to play in those games and another to win them.

We should be in a lot of those games and we need to get in the habit of winning them.
