I don’t know who Juck is, but I haven’t heard that at all. Although there’s a reason he’s not the starting RT, assuming it’s even true that Phillip Daniels beat him out, nobody knows for sure yet.

I admit that nobody is raving about Onianwa either. I personally think he struggled athletically against the edges and they realized quickly he’s better suited as a guard, but Ohio State has 3 unquestioned starters on the IOL

Yeah, he was always a guard. Him being moved to not only tackle but left tackle took everyone by surprise. However, everyone has been singing his praises all off season, we’re expecting big things from him with the way those around the program are talking about him. He supplanted Onianwa very quickly in fall camp.

This is after you said they’ve played hundreds more snaps than Arch, which is clearly not the case.  For a QB, two starts is valuable.  There’s some value in the limited snaps versus UGa, A&M and OSU.  For him, more than his lack of experience, is whether he gets good pass protection.  Same for Sayin.  Reps certainly matter, but his pedigree is wholly unique.

By and large it’s evenly matched.

Of the 3 returning OL, Siereveld and Hinzman started all 4 CFP games and Montgomery rotated in the 1st two CFP games and started the last two versus Texas in the Cotton Bowl and in the ND national championship game. We've seen what they can do against the best fronts in college football on the biggest of stages with all the chips on the table at crunch time. They can play championship football

I understand I’m mixing it up here a bit.

Many of the names I rattled off were Ohio State defenders so if those guys were in prominent roles, then I’d expect 3/5 of our Olinemen to be designated as such by the Ohio State contingent.  I don’t really care except to the extent that you’re consistent.  It was not a comparison of our Oline to yours.

Now perhaps your interior Oline played prominent roles in the last month.  Fine.  But you also lost some pieces of that Oline.  You also lost experienced RBs.  They had experienced pieces around them in suppport.  They’ve got ability sure.  I hate to tell you (again it doesn’t really matter), but an independent source grading these dudes says these guys didn’t play quality football but rather their teammates picked them up.  They aren’t the same players as last year.  There is no reason to believe they’ll be dominant and certainly not against us.

The IOL didn’t just play a month of football, they lead Ohio State to a national championship. That is a proven national championship winning IOL

This game comes down to OSU quarterback play.  More power to him if Sayin, in his first start, plays as well as Sam Leavitt, Cade Klubnick, or Will Howard.   I don't think he will.

But your qb hasn’t even started a game.  We also have a bunch of guys who aren’t considered returning starters, but have played a ton of snaps that were transfers or backups.  Many believe our JR TE transfer from Cal will need to make a decision after this yr around going to NFL or coming back for sr yr.  Same for our backup edge Brad Spence.  Our starting C started as a true freshman, but was injured as a soph.  Our runningback, Cedric Baxter started as a true freshman and was called the top back in the country by Nick Saban going into his soph year before tearing ligaments in his knee.  He’s back this year and provides an inside running threat that we didn’t have last year.  We’ll see how truly “back” he is in game 1.  Our starting safety, Derek Williams was a 5 star that started as a true freshman.  He tore his ACL last year.  He’s back and supposedly looking great.  We have another freak safety, McDonald, who wasn’t considered a starter, but played a ton of reps and started some games last year.   Practice reports have raved about the DT depth from transfers that were not part of program last year.  One was a freshman all-am at Syracuse last year and based upon reports from Gerry Hamilton, from this site he will be a guy that will only be here for this year and next before he comes out early for the nfl draft.   Cole Brevard was hon ment all big ten last year at DT.  Our starting wr, Ryan Wingo wasn’t considered a starter.  He made a lot of plays as a true freshman.  He’s a great athlete and has looked great in practice the last 2 weeks according to reports.  LT Trevor Goosby, who is currently out of practice, started against Texas A&M and Georgia and ASU played a lot vs Clemson when RT Williams, a draft pick went out.  He did so well against NFL draft picks that many are thinking he may have a decision this year with coming out early for the NFL draft.  He’s a great athlete.

UT as recruited well, like Ohio State, and has done a good job of plugging spots of need with the transfer portal.
