As far as how this affects Texas athletics, this is who CDC will be reporting to now after the previous president Jay Hartzell took the SMU job with the same title.  As long as CDC, Davis, and Eltife are all aligned, Texas athletics should continue to hum and stack Directors’ Cups for years to come.  Should be good from an athletics standpoint.

This guy is a Steve Patterson level hire for the university in layman's terms. Expect chaos and dysfunction.

If he starts to tank the athletic department, his tenure at Texas will be as short if not shorter than Patterson’s was.

The news can be discussed without discussing hot-button, divisive political topics. There are other forums where such things can be discussed, but we’re not going to do that here.

I feel the readership here is smart enough to know where the line is what constitutes crossing it before posting.

So what's the purpose of this thread even existing? Someone asked what it means and a discussion can't even be had 😂 The reality based response is it means the university will have a harder time attracting and retaining accomplished faculty. Is that apolitical enough? A what with no why?

Excellent. And of the reasons I left OB. The sports board became nothing more than a Political, food, travel and pissing forum.

I doubt Eltife would ok anyone that wouldn't be inline with the way Athletics at the University are being handled.

It's hard to know until they get going. That said, I doubt Eltife would allow someone not aligned with the BoR's vision for the school/athletics. Texas is rolling right now and nobody wants it to stop.

It starts at the top. Getting other leaders in lock step with the overall vision is where it all starts.
