Texas fan in Georgia Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago Nice chill weekend watching everybody beat each other up this weekend while the horns get healthy. Was Oregon or Alabamas win more impressive ? Is Dante Moore the new Heisman front runner? Ty Simpson? Why does Kirby throw out his entire coaching philosophy when Alabama is on the opposite sideline ? Is James Franklin allergic to winning big games ? Is Mike elko gonna fight the entire media room the next time he squeaks out a win vs a bad team? Feel like we got more questions than answers after yesterday 1 Quote
Tuco Ramirez Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Penn St is in an awkward position with Franklin. He’s built a top tier program so you can’t fire him, but it looks like he’ll never get over the hump. So do fans just accept high level mediocrity? 2 Quote
Moderators Gerry Hamilton Posted 9 hours ago Moderators Posted 9 hours ago Dante Moore is very good Coaches not taking the points is now my forever pet peeve in football. F the analytics. The sport needs coaches to start coaching more with game management sense again. It's really bad right now. 9 Quote

I’ve seen some clips on fans in the stands last night chanting “fire franklin”. Last night was his opportunity to prove everybody wrong. A white out at night. A first year starter to gameplan against. He had everything on the line and while he fought back down 17-3, it’s still the same result . If he doesn’t beat Ohio st this season I think the fanbase turns on him completely. You see how our fanbase gets angry thinking about sarks record against elite coaches, Penn state fans have been going through that for YEARS 2 Quote

That 4th down play call from Bobo was almost as bad as the toss sweep sark called on the goal line vs Ohio state. It had no chance from the time the ball was snapped. But then again, a gamble on 4th down is what ole miss did to put LSU away. 2 1 Quote

YES (also Diego Pavia) Why does Kirby throw out his entire coaching philosophy when Alabama is on the opposite sideline ? Bama and OSU are the only teams to consistently recruit at Georgia's level the past 5 years so he doesn't have his usual physical edge? (dunno) Something freaky scary about 6'7" 360 lb OT Kadyn Proctor plowing thru guys on that screen pass Is James Franklin allergic to winning big games ? YES Is Mike elko gonna fight the entire media room the next time he squeaks out a win vs a bad team? No, he'll just go full Brian Kelly and tongue lash them into submission Feel like we got more questions than answers after yesterday. Great day of football, amirite? 3 Quote
Cgap Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Hey guys. I'm not a member yet, but to throw it out there, I'm disturbed by the non-targeting call on Penn St vs Oregon. It was vicious, almost assault like. I thought "helmet to helmet" contact was prohibited??? The ball carrier head was rocked back. How he got up, I don't know. Big 10 officials ought to be called out. In the NFL, SEC it would have been called. Would parents want to have their sons to be hit like that???? I'm a retired "ole school coach". But, disturbing!! 1 Quote

All the analytics in the world can’t account for specific game management context. Kirby not taking the FG to tie the game was dumb (and the play call to Cash Jones was even dumber). I’d like to see Sark take your advice above. 2 Quote

Game sense seems to be a dying trait that no coach tends to have anymore. Quote

Player wasn't defenseless so it's only targeting if it is the crown of the helmet. Contact was with the front of the helmet which is legal. Edited 1 hour ago by whereiend 1 Quote
Hookem72 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago People forget it took Tom Osborne 22 years to win at Nebraska and he won 3 national championships. If you have a coach consistently winning 10 games and going to the playoffs—you keep him. 1 Quote

whereiend Posted 44 minutes ago Posted 44 minutes ago 19 minutes ago, Hashtag said: Then explain the player being ejected in the Alabama game. This play? He clearly leads with the crown of the helmet. For a ball carrier it's targeting if you lead with the crown of the helmet. Leading with the front of the helmet like the PSU player is only targeting if the player is defenseless. Front of the helmet on a ball carrier is not targeting. The rule in general is BS and we should go back to having "spearing" instead, but I don't think either of these calls is controversial. The rules are dumb but clear. 1 Quote
