I doubt Texas is that concerned with 2027 prospects rn.  Besides winning on the field, they're probably more focused on closing the 2026 class strong before turning their attention to the 2027 cycle, which is a year and a half away from signing day.

Meredith just got Fong’d to A&M… he is a must get and reason we didn’t take a great on paper corner this year. What are we doing

1. Pls don't use the term Fong Bomb. I know you're just copying what they've tried to brand. But it kind of makes me ill to think that this is some sort of major breaking news when it's merely a prediction.

2.  He's not the reason Texas didn't go after an elite corner this year. Whoever told you that doesn't understand how recruiting actually works. Texas doesn't ever pass on elite players at corner. They may miss on them, but they don't pass on them to wait for the next crop.

He’s been leaning to aggy for a while.  So is the rb Landon Willis Callis. Sucks because we need an elite lockdown corner and we’ve missed on quite a few big ones in Texas  over the last decade including last year

Case Phillips is a 5 star, brother. Also, Samari Matthews may be the most underrated prospect in 2026. We also have Graceson Littleton, who is one of the most impactful freshmen in the nation. Get the early concern, but come on.

Good points.i should have been more clear.  I’m talking about elite of the elite. That’s like saying hey we got ffrench and terry who are 5 stars but dkm is the clear difference maker. A 5 star plus perhaps in Gerry terms.  Love Philips but not sure he’s got the ceiling of Devin Sanchez.  Maybe he will have a superior career who knows. Littleton has been a revelation but most people would not have had him as a top 10 recruit in our class and he maybe one of the top 10 freshmen performers in the nation… kudos to the staff for getting him.   In this age of nil recruiting you have to go big on a few big time guys like a Tyler Atkinson and a Derek Cooper and not settle on a half notch below.  Meredith could be the number 1 corner in the country. Would be a big loss.

It’s extremely early and we are going to close strong in 2026.

We panic (including me) every year, yet we will land another top 3/4 class

DB is also the least of our concerns.

Look at the young DBs (Sophomores/Freshman)

Littleton (maybe the best freshman in the country)

Kade Phillips

Jonah Williams

Zelus Hicks

Chester

JJR

Black

Filsaime

Mack

Need to see what some of those guys can do next year.  Filsame has come on a little.

Littleton is up there with Sanchez from Ohio St and Bolden from UGA as some of the top freshman DBs this year so far

There is really good young talent with the DB's. We lose a lot, but the guys behind them have some playing experience and talent.

Filsame has come on a lot, he gets more and more playing time. Don't forget we have Williams back who has plenty of playing time before his injury last year. They've recruited pretty well at DB.
