  1. HUGE pickup for the Horns. Coleman is considered the top non-QB in the transfer portal.
  2. Nothing about any of those lists should scare anyone. Lots of ok players. Not many difference makers.
  3. Sunday morning: Notes: Three portal transfers were on campus yesterday. Yale OL Mikey Bennett, NC State RB Hollywood Smothers, and Pitt LB Rasheem Biles. Biles committed to the Longhorns yesterday evening. The two-time All-ACC linebacker, who recorded 181 tackles and 10 sacks over the past two seasons, immediately fills a major void in the Texas roster. The Longhorns have now taken two LBs in the transfer portal. Bennett is said to still be considering both Oregon and Indiana. Smothers, who initially committed to Alabama following his entry to the portal, remains on his official visit to Texas as of this morning. ** Wide receiver Cam Coleman has completed his tour of four campuses, finishing up with Alabama yesterday afternoon. Coleman is considering Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech and Bama. Bama is considered the biggest competition ** More notes: - If Smothers pledges to Texas, running back Christian Clark likely looks elsewhere. Clark and Texas have not signed an agreement for his return. - Linebacker Cade Uluave was predicted to go to Michigan by a Michigan reporter last night. Uluave has visited the Wolverines over the weekend after seeing Texas Thursday and Friday. - Former Oklahoma State defensive end Wendell Gregory is thought to be nearing a final decision. Texas is among those choices. - Defensive back Kobe Black is now expected to return to Texas next season, according to his agent. - Jamie Ffrench visited Michigan over the weekend. - Linebacker Bo Barnes has committed to Kentucky. - DeAndre Moore has yet to find a home. He has visited Colorado, Louisville, Ohio State, and Ole Miss, and possibly others. Moore's asking price was not met by Texas, nor any of the other schools as yet. ** While Monday-Wednesday of next week is a dead period, where no portal players are allowed on campus, the coaches may still recruit and sign portal prospects, they just can't host them on visits. Several new entrants to the portal are also expected during that period and later into the week. Texas will be actively monitoring the portal, especially for major entrants. ** The portal officially closes at midnight on Friday. All paperwork must be signed and submitted by that time by players and then universities have two business days to put the names into the portal. Given that grace period, we could be looking at a week from Tuesday (Jan. 20) as the final day we will be hearing new names entered into the portal.
  4. And yet he's been to two college football semifinals and won 10 games three straight years.

  6. Pitt linebacker Rasheem Biles has committed to Texas.
  7. Saturday Afternoon Update: Notes: - Yale OL Mike Bennett has concluded his visit. He is expected to visit Oregon and Indiana. Texas is very interested. - LB Rasheem Biles and RB Hollywood Smothers remain on their trips to Austin. - DB Edwin Joseph, who visited Texas earlier this week, has committed to Ole Miss. As we’ve said, Texas is really focused on the front seven on defense currently. That’s not an excuse for missing on Joseph or anyone else, but it is indicative of the overall thought process and resource allocation. - WR Cam Coleman is expected to stay on his visit in Tuscaloosa to watch Alabama vs Texas in basketball today.

  9. Saturday morning: - NC State transfer running Hollywood Smothers is on campus in Austin currently. - Pitt linebacker Rasheem Biles is also expected on campus today. Like Smothers, Biles is an All-ACC performer. - Yale OL Mikey Bennett remains on campus from his visit that began yesterday. The Longhorns really like the two-time Ivy Leaguer. - Some folks have asked about the running back situation with Smothers visiting Austin today. Here’s what I’ve learned: RB Christian Clark has agreed to a new deal with Texas but the new deal is not signed. RB Raleek Brown has signed with Texas.

  11. Texas is interested in another RB. Not named Haynes.
  12. Texas is still working on another RB not named Haynes. Just fyi.
  13. Yale OL Mike Bennett, Oklahoma State DE Wendell Gregory, Cal LB Cade Uluave, FSU LB Justin Cryer on visit.
  14. Not much. Pretty telling Texas didn’t re-engage yesterday.
  15. Well, the add/drop date for classes is significant. Players who sign after that date will miss spring practice.
  16. Former Texas wide receiver Jamie Ffrench plans to visit both FSU and Florida.

  18. Of note. Michigan RB Justice Haynes has entered the transfer portal.
  19. Trey Richardson has committed to Louisville.
  20. Not a surprise here to us. Kobe Black has entered the transfer portal. With the addition of Bo Mascoe, the return of both Kade Phillips, Graceson Littleton and Warren Roberson, the corner spot is filled with folks who are better in man coverage than Black.
