  1. We have an amazing roster, it just takes constant restock to maintain. Objectively, we have holes in this class at linebacker, right tackle, and running back, as the options we have chased at these positions are all committed. Hoping for flips and late evals is fine, but not ideal. Especially in this environment when big money deals have locked up recruits who like us already, but money isn’t charging. I am hopeful for some coaching carousel to maybe boost our current holes in the class later. But some of these kids are now committed at their second third choice and just took a payday, so a coaching change might not make a difference. The money will still be there. And I know it isn’t December, but again, all our offers are committed at the positions above. Except for Atkinson, which is a crap shoot. And sure, we can fill these later in the portal, but that is expensive, so spend the money now and develop. Keep the snowball rolling. So I can watch it while crying from my Alaskan yacht.
  2. Rod is great! I enjoy his insight into the program as a first hand source as much as anything else at OTF. If some of you guys are so negative and can’t see the value in something here, don’t watch that show. It’s pretty simple. Especially if you can’t critically put together that Rod played AT Texas, lived the life of these current players. He is a student of the modern game, played it at the highest level, and has forgotten more about football than most of you could comprehend. Just a note, In anything, if you have someone that has lived it, just shut up and listen to them. Wolrd War 2 veteran, your parents/grandparets, someone who has been through any part of life you haven’t. The best way you can learn about the present is by listening and learning from the past.
  3. The good part about football when I played is no matter what anyone said off the field or did (throw your hat to the floor), you could come back and throw them to the turf that same way during the game. I wouldn’t want to give Simmons, our linebackers, or our upcoming interior D line any reason to do this, when I hadn’t played a down of CF, but these kids are different. Man that made me sound old.
  4. I hope a meteorite hits their stadium and they all blow up, and it catches their oil fields on fire, and all their profits go up in smoke. But also not upset about the 2 we lost. But still the blowing up thing regardless.
  5. So, are we adding up all these offers? Between softball and football they aren’t at the 20 million yet? Who is going to enforce this sh$t
  6. Because they said we would get Turntine. And that is what is happening. Good in state next year also.
  7. Let’s spend it in ‘27 then
  8. It’s disappointing with what is out there at tackle and what we have to offer. We’re cheap and behind the game. We will catch up, but we spun our wheels a bit like we did at the first of NIL. Now, don’t get me wiring, only talking about tackles this cycle and being a little spoiled, but we should close on 2 out of the 5 or 6 elite tackles available. And if we do I will recant. Aside from recent recruiting, I’m not being negative. Our roster management is fantastic. Not speaking against that. We are going to throttle some people with our defense this year. I just can be realistic and critical when I see a chink in the armor as well.
  9. And? Who else. Malakai Lee? We need 2
  10. I don’t get it. Isn’t this 5 star worth it? We need 2
  11. Ok, yep, averaged (20) !! tackles a game his entire college career while starting on both sides of the ball.. Won the Maxwell, Outland, and Rockne awards. Wow, that’s crazy.
  12. Great read, thank you . Bishop should be offense. I’m going I look it up now, but I remember Nobis had some gaudy defensive stats in college.
  13. Love it. These kids play these games and see it. Wingo and Simmons fuel. Simmons should be higher
  14. Totally! The whole purpose of dad jokes is to irritate your kids and/or teenagers
  15. Hope so. If we get Guervil I’ll feel pretty good still. Priority position, expensive to replace in the portal, we were suppose to get him, should be a good barometer.
  16. Yes, compliance department?? Heard of it ?
  17. You’re right, but it seems that we are leading for some recruits and at the last minute another school swoops in and takes them. I am assuming it’s NIL, or a bag. And the SEC has always been good at that. It’s because I trust our recruiters that I think this is true. The rules are the only thing that has charged since last couple of stellar years (we are still doing pretty good). Just think we might need to adjust, other schools are. As pointed out in the Sunday conversation.
  18. Again, I agree. I’m not saying they are idiots. They are the same recruiters that are winning battles still. They just seem to be losing these battles at the last minute to cheaters. SEC has been cheating a LONG time. This is how they like it. UTs compliance doesn’t care about football, they care about law suits. So we need to find a work around that is legal. Hope they do, and I’m sure someone is on it.
  19. I’m sure the compliance department has the final say.
  20. I doubt it. He has a say. He doesn’t solely deal with the business of work arounds. I’m sure they have someone on it. Lawyers, CDC, etc.
  21. I agree, but I didn’t complain in previous years. Well, maybe in the late Mack Brown years. I trust the staff, but they don’t control the money always. Everyone here is right, this is big boy recruiting, and we are going to follow the rules now and do little boy recruiting, this is concerning. We won these recruitments with the narrative and the kids wanting to come here with solid recruiters (I trust that), then it seems like we can’t close due to money. That doesn’t have much to do with recruiting chops. Has to do with the system. We need to funnel the money we were winning with the last few years into legitimate channels to make more competitive offers. We are Texas
  22. Now here is the positive, the sky isn’t falling because we lost some recruits. Our team is good and we have good retention and roster management. We also have mulligans later in the portal if we miss at the end. Also, some teams might later lose their head coaches that we are fighting for these recruits. However, we need to develop some work around to legitimately get these kids some higher bids with NIL. Plenty of longhorns own businesses.
  23. Well, since these rules and workarounds are new, maybe not? No precedent, so how do you know ? We are playing by the rules and others aren’t, so we are losing recruits at the last minute that favor us. This is the only evidence that is objective right now. I still trust the process, but doing the same thing when you are failing is the definition of insanity. You are all pointing to previous years when the house settlement wasn’t in place. Other teams in the SEC don’t play fair, if we do, we are at a disadvantage until we figure it out. And we better quick.
