Every team has injuries. The committee isn’t punishing Texas for that.

Texas isn’t anywhere close to the #8 seed. It’s a body of work. And Texas’ body of work will have them in the top 5 or 6 overall regardless of what happens the next week.

I know. I’m just saying you can’t blame the reliever when he inherits bases loaded with 1 out. The damage was largely done prior to Burns coming in.

I would mainly blame leaving the starter in 3 batters too long for this situation.

Then guys like Cozart will be throwing 3 days in a row. You do things in the postseason you don’t normally do during the regular season or a Tuesday game against UTSA.

That isn’t my point. We also never made it through the losers bracket in Omaha in 2011, 2014, 2018, 2021 and 2022. It’s the losers bracket for a reason. It’s designed to where teams don’t usually make it out alive. And that goes for all teams.

What team is in great shape if they get in the losers bracket?

Teams use the same 5-6 pitchers the entire postseason. Back to back games, 3 days in a row, all of it: So no, they won’t be needed.

That applies to every team in the country.

What about all the close wins they closed out? We are 34-10. There are going to be blown leads in a 55 game season. It’s college baseball.

3 other guys outside of Cozart with ERA’s under 3.00. It is one of the best in the country. Yes, if you remove Cozart it doesn’t look as rosey. You could do that exercise for every team and their closer.

I would hope fans would appreciate our own bullpen after seeing what these other teams are trotting out there. It is one of the best in the country. Now, the lack of clutch hitting is a fair critique.

Vic is going to need to adapt. No one is saying he needs to make wholesale changes to who he is or his core identity, but there will have to be tweaks. Getting over the final hump is always the toughest and requires the most introspection.

There was probably 1 pitcher used tonight who you might see again this weekend. So yes, it was a lot of experimenting.

I’m not sure where the notion is coming from that we have lost a bunch of midweek games. We are 7-2 and one of the losses was to a team projected in the tournament field.

It’s always funny when people make comments like this in a middle of a 31-9 season. Blake said it was a championship caliber team. Notice he didn’t say they would win every game or series or never go through any adversity.
