    Fair. The commitment to basketball at OU is way behind. I believe they are trying to build a new arena, too.

    I agree. This team should be a 7 if they win tonight, regardless of what happens against Iowa State. Hard to make an argument that a team like Washington State or Dayton should be seeded ahead of Texas, considering the key metrics the committee is supposed to look at.

    OU is going to have a decision to make on Porter Moser. I thought he would win there but it just isn't working and he apparently isn't the easiest guy to work with or play for.

    @Gerry Hamilton Any idea what the portal number might be for Texas? I'm assuming a ball-handling guard and some rim protection will be at the top of the list.

    Considering a 7-11 Big 12 team has made the tournament each of the last two years, I think last night pretty much locked up a spot. Not like the bubble is full of good times anyway, and certainly not ones with 4 road Q1 wins. The committee has shown in previous years they don't weight performances in the conference tournament super heavily, so we definitely need to go 2-1 down the stretch here to avoid a 8/9 matchup.

    I believe Santos is also out for the year with an injury. He, Rigney and Mercer all went down in the fall—our 3 portal arms. Brutal.

    The floor of this team feels fairly high, but the ceiling seems like it will be determined by whether Gasparino can play like a dude as a freshman and if we can get at least one of Luke Harrison or Witt to be like their old selves.

    Bullpen may not have the shutdown arms some may desire, but I think there is actually some nice depth in there. Just a matter of carving out roles. Whitehead, Shaw, Harrison, Fontenot, Boehm and Duplantier are all guys who we should feel at least semi-good about. Surely at least 1 or 2 of the freshman arms mentioned will be serviceable. If this team had Will Mercer fully healthy, they would be a top-10 team in the country in my eyes. He would be the shutdown arm at the backend of the bullpen. That injury hurt so bad.

    I’d think that would be good enough to get in regardless of what happens in Kansas City considering the wins already on the resume. Would love to see them steal one of those road games but those are such tough places to play. I would say @ Baylor might be the best chance.

    IT Horton being borderline unplayable has hurt this team so badly. Need a second guard who can be a semi-reliable bucket-getter. And while Weaver has been good and growing into his role, he isn't that guy. I hate to harp on it but if this team had Jayden Nunn or Reese Dixon-Waters, we probably have at least 2-3 more wins on the season.

    Down goes Kansas to Kansas State. Finishing .500 or above in this league should be celebrated. It’s that tough this year. Maybe doesn’t have the top end teams of years past but there is not one pushover.

    @Gerry Hamilton Are you impressed with what McCasland has done at Tech in year 1? They seem to be playing at a much faster pace than his UNT teams. I'm surprised they've looked this good without Cambridge.

    Bad loss for OU at UCF, but just shows again how nothing is easy in this conference.

    @Gerry Hamilton Great stuff Gerry. Always enjoy your basketball info. Did I see where Nic Codie has been out with an injury? How did he look this season?
