  1. I have a suspicion this is going to end up being an upgrade overall, and not because of Helm vs Endries, but because we have depth in the room (Washington, Townsend, Shannon) to provide us more than what Juan Davis offered us as TE2 last year, which was....not much.
  2. The guy Ohio State took from Rice that was considered one of the best in the portal looks like he isn’t even going to win a starting job. It is a tough way to make a living. Might be the hardest position to recruit in the portal.
  3. Any team that loses its swing tackle in the first week of camp is going to be concerned about their depth. That isn't something you plan for all offseason.
  4. Can we, like, I don't know....see a game played first? He is one of the best OL coaches in the country, was employed by Nick Saban for multiple years, coached in the NFL, is putting guys in the NFL at a rate we haven't seen in almost 2 decades and is recruiting fine. He messed up by not adding another tackle body in the 2023 or 2024 classes. He ain't perfect and for all we know, that choice was made above his pay grade. OL is the hardest position for services to evaluate and rank (hi, 3-star Trevor Goosby and Cam Williams, meet 4-star Payton Kirkland) and is also on the longest developmental timeline. This isn't even a 'trust the coaches' post. It's just stupid to see the results he has had after wandering through the O-Line desert for almost 15 years and saying stuff like the development "simply has not been good enough" on August 18th, coming off a season where they were runner-up for the Joe Moore Award.
  5. Imagine how weak the penalties will be on the NIL cap stuff if this is the punishment for openly cheating during a game.
  6. A 10-2 Texas with a win at Ohio State and at one of Florida/Georgia is in the playoff 100% of the time. So yes, I’ll take a guaranteed playoff spot if offered that today.
  7. The way things are trending now with some members of the class, it is going to be picked apart pretty good in the draft. Hell, I thought the 2025 class was too full and it ended up working itself out.
  8. There are going to be more SEC teams with losses early this year. Lots of good games early on the schedule. In the first 5 games: Texas- Ohio State and Florida LSU- Clemson, Florida and Ole miss Florida- LSU, Miami and Texas A&M- Notre Dame and Auburn OU- Michigan and Auburn Arkansas- Ole Miss, Memphis and Notre Dame Georgia- Tennessee and Bama Bama- Florida State and Georgia Auburn- Baylor, OU, A&M
  9. Brent Brennan almost got fired after 1 year last year and they are going to suck this year. That seems like a pretty safe bet. Pittman is probably close behind with the schedule lining up the way it does. I have a tough time seeing an in-season firing for Venables since OU has a pretty manageable start to the season.
  10. I'm all for it, but we need to be sure that the committee doesn't have win/loss column bias, which I don't have a lot of confidence in right now after how we saw them handle SMU and Indiana last year. A 9-3 Texas with an out-of-conference loss to Ohio State should be treated differently than a 10-2 team that played Ball State, Akron, and Western Michigan in non-conference.
  11. What a difference two weeks makes.
  12. I hope he has success and by all accounts he is a nice kid, but something like this isn't that outrageous or super surprising if you followed him since HS. He wasn't exactly drama-free at Texas either. The guy no-showed the East-West Shrine Bowl earlier this year and didn't even provide a reason. That was not a good look. Hopefully he finds his footing in the NFL and can make an impact. Talented player when he can hold onto the ball.
  13. He just went into hiding. Deleted all the tweets and turned his account to private. He called you embarrassing and said you were a sore loser for saying Texas dodged a bullet with Felix Ojo. I’m all good. I can handle the jokes and what not. But it takes just a few minutes of looking that guys posting history to know the type of news that typically brings him online. It doesn’t bring anything productive to the boards.
  14. I still don’t understand why you are on this site when you aren’t a Texas fan and spend more time hiding on twitter trashing the owner of this site than coming on here for actual conversation.
  15. Hopefully Sark knows we have to win this one for message board narratives Real important stuff
  16. Brown, Berymon, Wells, Cleveland and Wesley all announced in June. Turntine and Okpala last week.
  17. We'll see if the juice is worth the squeeze there. Not sure if paying up at RB is the route to go this cycle if we are going to play by the cap.
  18. Quick math says one of Matthews or Rouse moves Texas to 8th on 247. Both moves it to 7th. If both of those go Texas's way, it's hard not to see 6-7th as the floor, considering Texas will be taking at least 25 guys, whether they are flips or senior evals or whatever. They would be the only team in the top 8 besides Bama with fewer than 20 commits.
  19. It ain’t that serious man. No one in the locker room cares about where a 4-star LB is headed and the recruiting world sees Texas as a team with 3 five stars committed headed towards another top 5 level class.
  20. We need 2 5-star tackles? No team "needs" that. They would like that. A tackle class of Turntine, Wright and another top 150-200 level guy is a damn good class when you consider the early feedback on Nick Brooks from last year's class at the tackle spot.
  21. Maybe push for isn’t the right phrase, but the very site said we decided not to match the NIL for Simeon. Don’t think we were sweating Henderson’s decision today knowing that will go all the way to December. Krempin and Roseborough we didn’t have slotted into spots where it was worth the NIL. When Bryce Perry Wright announces for A&M “over Texas” next week are we going to consider that a miss? When we stopped going all in after getting Wesley. Not all decisions are equal.
  22. If you actually believe Texas pushed for and didn’t land all 8 of these guys, you must be new to recruiting. Just because a guy officially visited Texas doesn’t mean it is a “miss” if he doesn’t commit here. Texas brought in 44 official visitors for a class that will under 30 guys.
  23. Unless it was free, it still cost money. And the discount for a 5-star OOS edge rusher probably is full price for a lot of other prospects.
