    Texas earns a portal commitment from former Texas A&M OT Jonte Newman. the 6–4, 315 pound tackle prospect saw seven snaps for A&M in 2025. He will be a depth piece next fall.

    I don’t suspect this changes the pursuit for Texas on the OL when it comes the kid from Maryland or Louisville. It definitely won’t change anything for Jordan Seaton.

Newman, originally out of Bridgeland High in Cypress, Texas, makes the move from the Aggies to the Longhorns after just one year. Newman had committed to the Aggies pretty early in his recruitment after being pursued heavily by Texas and many others.     This should not be new for those who have been following here at OTF for the last month, but Hero Kanu has officially announced his return to Texas for 2026. Kanu was previously undecided about a return and declaring for the NFL Draft. But the decision comes, and it’s a favorable one for the Horns

But for now, this is where we are at as we inch near Draft season.
