  1. Jahdae Barron says he wasn’t going on stage for the Thorpe Award without having Andrew Mukuba and Michael Taaffe on stage with him. Says all three weren’t supposed to be at Texas. Barron was committed to Baylor, Mukuba went to Clemson and Taaffe didn’t have a scholarship. Yet it worked out and those three helped push him to win the award recognizing the best DB in the country.
  2. Andrew Mukuba says he was locker mates with Clemson QB Cade Klubnik. The two grew close as the only two from Austin at Clemson at the time. Calls him the ultimate competitor and someone that hates to lose.
  3. Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian will be talking with the media Monday morning to discuss the Clemson Tigers and the College Football Playoff. There will be players both before and after available to the media as well. We will have updates in the comments down below.
  4. He committed to Ole Miss today.
  5. Klare wrapped up his visit to Austin late Friday and has since made his way over to College Station for a visit with A&M. There was perhaps some hope that Klare would lock this portal recruitment down after the trip, but that obviously is not the case and a trip to Oregon has become more of a possibility since his departure from Austin. Texas did a great job getting the early visit for Klare, whose stock has only risen since entering the portal. To finish the job, Texas will need to play the game of portal recruiting and NIL, as Klare and his camp know he is the top-rated tight end in the portal and will have his pick of where he plays football in 2025. The Longhorns will have to wait a bit on a decision from Klare, but they are in the thick of it now.
  6. … and Oklahoma’s locker room looks pretty thin. Navy was a 9-point underdog on Thursday. I’d be shocked if that line remains the same as the game nears .
  7. Texas EDGE Justice Finkley has entered the portal.
  8. Gunnar Helm is headed to the Reese's Senior Bowl.
  9. Started 4 games in this past season with 366 snaps. Spence’s snap alignment in 2024: • 281 in the box • 54 at DL (all as a 5-tech) • 29 in the slot • 1 at corner
  10. Brad Spence is on campus currently he confirms with OTF.
  11. Brevard is listed at 6-3 and 333 pounds by the Purdue website. In 2024, Brevard saw 392 snaps on the field: 308 in the A-gap 83 in the B-gap 1 over the tackle Brevard saw the 3rd most snaps of any B1G DL in the A-Gap for what it is worth.
  12. A few nuggets to pass along: *** Texas has been kicking the tires on former Arkansas LB Brad 'Greedy' Spence out of the transfer portal as of recently. The former four-star linebacker from Klein Forest High School in Houston entered the portal earlier in the week and I have learned that the Longhorns could be looking at Spence as an option out of the portal. Texas recruited Spence a good bit during the 2023 class, though never got to the point of an official visit. Spence should be on visit watch for the weekend from what I have gathered so far. *** On the note of Texas adding a punter – Bobby Burton added the nugget this morning that Texas was able to get former P Michael Dickson on the phone yesterday with Utah portal P Jack Bouwmeester, a cool piece of recruiting behind the scenes. I was told the visit went well on Saturday and that there is momentum here. I am hopeful to go fully in depth about the visit details, say... early afternoon today. *** As our @Gerry Hamilton has reported earlier in the week, Texas is expecting a visit by Purdue portal DL Cole Brevard. Brevard was at SMU on Thursday and made the trip down south for the Texas visit soon thereafter. The magic number remains 4 at the defensive line position, even with the pending return of DL Sydir Mitchell out of the portal I am told. Texas will go big game hunting here, but Brevard is certainly a good start to begin the hunt.
  13. Until I see him become a physical presence in the trenches, it would best be spent by Texas have a proven piece near the LOS. Niblack is what he is at tight end and that’s a mismatch in space with elite speed. Not the inline guy like Helm who can’t help in the run game.
  14. Texas freshman EDGE Colin Simmons has been named to the SEC All-Freshman team after his performance this season. Simmons finished the 13 game slate for the Longhorns with eight sacks and was an instrumental piece of the Texas defense which ranks atop the country in many defensive metrics.
  15. Probably not on Hils. Texas will have a five man rotation as they’ve had the entire year
  16. That will be part of the juggle. $$ allotment will be directed towards biggest need and right now you have a handful of biggest needs at one spot — DL.
