  3. Longhorns Sit in Pole Position for 2027 Cornerback **** One of the top defensive backs in the state of Texas made the three hour trip from Garland to Austin on Saturday for the first junior day of the calendar year. Lakeview Centennial's Montre Jackson received a Texas offer on the first week of January and wasted no time getting down to see the Texas staff and the check out the campus. Jackson spoke with reporters following his time on the 40 Acres to recap his visit and to update where things stand with the Longhorns and his recruitment. It was a great day," Jackson said. "I had a great conversation with Coach Sark and finally got to talk with Coach Muschamp." Jackson said the conversation with Muschamp remained focused on the idea that he is a priority for the staff and someone Texas values highly on their board at the moment. Prior to the visit, Jackson had spoke with Muschamp a couple of times over the phone after he was announced as the Texas defensive coordinator. The efforts from Sarkisian, Muschamp and corners coach Mark Orphey has Texas sitting in the top spot for Jackson at the moment. "It's probably, definitely my number one right now," Jackson said. "Definitely leading my recruitment right now, for sure." Oklahoma and Tennessee are two others that are hot in pursuit, but for Jackson he says his previous trips to Austin combined with the relationships with staff members keeps the Longhorns ahead of the remaining competition. Jackson says he will be taking his official visits before making an final decision with his recruitment. Schools in the running for an official include Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas A&M, SMU and Duke. Of course, Texas will be receiving one as well. I mentioned Jackson as one of my takeaways from the afternoon. Much taller than I had anticipated coming out of the trip, a legitimate 6–1 and some change. He told me afterwards that he hopes to run 10.1 in the 100m and 20.7 in the 200m this spring. Last year he ended up recording a 10.3, showcasing already elite speed at the cornerback position. *** Key Competition Tennessee Oklahoma SMU Texas A&M Duke
  4. Let’s see if Seaton takes any visits after this LSU trip. I wouldn’t be surprised if Kiffin just landed himself a left tackle.
  5. He didn't say yesterday. But he is a two-way guy at Sierra Canyon.

  7. One of Nation's Top DL Recaps Trip to Texas *** While the Junior Day was a bit smaller to begin the 2026 recruiting year, there was nothing small with getting Sierra Canyon (Calif.) DL Kasi Currie on campus for the Texas staff. The 6-foot-5-inch, 315-pound defensive lineman made the trip to Austin on Saturday and came away with glowing remarks from his trip. This was Currie's first trip to Austin, but there is already some familiarity on campus. "Just seeing my boy Richard Wesley," Currie said of the highlights from his visit. "He just got out here and he was telling me about it over the phone a couple of days ago and I just had to come out and see it." The two were teammates at Sierra Canyon, and before Wesley reclassified to enroll early at Texas, the two were in the same grade even. Quite the defensive line tandem there. On his visit to Texas, Currie was able to sit down and talk with Steve Sarkisian, LaAllen Clark and Kenny Baker. The trio had a similar message to Currie" "That this is the best place for me," Currie said. "I am going to get developed and that everything I want is here." An interesting nugget from the trip is that Currie said despite this being the first time he met face to face with Steve Sarkisian, that it felt like he had met before. Even with this being his first trip down to campus, the Longhorns very much remain a school of interest for Currie early on in his recruitment. He said post-visit the Longhorns were very, very high on his consideration. "Texas is at the top of my (list). They are at the top of my list." Two other schools of interest include LSU and Alabama. Currie said the Longhorns will certainly receive an official visit in the summer time as well. Then after the officials, a decision will be made. Coming from California, Currie also said that the city of Austin reminded him of being out on the west coast, despite the weather being a little chillier on Saturday. Very solid first impression for the elite Cali defensive lineman. Texas is right in the thick of things for Currie after the visit. *** Notable Offers: Ohio State Ole Miss Tennessee Oklahoma LSU Alabama Arizona State Oregon Texas A&M USC Florida State Nebraska
  8. Texas has offered 2027 Smithson Valley QB Ty Knutson. Knutson is a familiar name to the board after appearing as a target towards the back end of the fall. He appeared on campus for the Arkansas game in late November and returns today where he received an offer from the Longhorns. As we know, QB offers are very precise from the Texas staff and Knutson appears to be their guy for 2027.
  9. Former Maryland OG Aliou Bah has committed to LSU. Not a huge shock there.
  10. Good stuff right here. Well done.
  11. Former Texas RB Christian Clark has committed to South Carolina.

  16. Kyle Flood stops by to see Hudson Whitenight out of Dripping Springs. Whitenight will be at the junior day on Saturday.
  17. Two stops today for Muschamp - that I know of now. Both include 2027 five-star defensive prospects. *** First is Orange Lutheran (Calif.) defensive lineman Marcus Fakatou who was on campus for the Arkansas game in late November. Fakatou is listed as the No. 2 defensive lineman in the country per the composite rankings. Kenny Baker has been working on this one. And Honor Fa'alave Johnson out of San Diego, California (Cathedral Catholic) who is currently ranked as the No. 1 safety in the country and a top-20 player per the composite. *** Two big time targets out of California. Muschamp is hunting.
  18. We've reported for about a month now that he is pleased in Austin and excited for an expanded role in 2027.
