  1. Georgia could have had targeting for the hit on Shapen. It’s been somewhat subtle but a very poorly officiated game.
  2. Stockton should have been flagged for simulating the snap.
  3. DO, I’m with you here. The LG position has presented the biggest question all season. Neto is one part of it but also no Robertson, particularly given Hutsons work having been at Guard leading into the season. The Brooks decision makes little sense and even less so now. I’d go Stroh over Brooks if we need to play one.
  4. I think Watts was out versus Houston. Barron sat the first half. And Houston had a 1st and 2nd round draft pick on that offense. Holgerson threw some good pick action in there. TCU, in part, took advantage of a banged up Barron. Also looks like Hoover started 6 games with his 2nd lowest passing total was versus Texas. Of the 300 yards passing, 230 were to relatively highly drafted players. They also had a higher 3rd round olinemen drafted. Versus KSU, the D was pitching a shutout until the refs passed on calling PI on Worthy. Then blocked punt. KSU started with 6!punts and only two first downs. After 10 possessions, they have 7 punts, two turnovers, 1 TD. Think what’s his face broke the pocket on 3rd and long for a completion for a first that ultimately led to a TD on the that drive. Then back to back TDs after turnovers game them short fields. They hit up several screens too. KState was not overwhelming talented, but they had NFL level guys on the offense too. There were limited pressures in those games too. Some good talent and coaches that can get them open as well. The LBers were at the heart of a couple pivotal plays too. Sure the secondary whiffed some, but I don’t think it was a scheme issue rather than a confluence of factors.
  5. This part of that comparison is largely ignored. Competition. Until we hit the playoffs last year, our opponents offensive skill talent, continuity and scheme was pretty weak. And actually their talent upfront was pretty mediocre too. I’d even say with Clemson you’ve seen their reversion to the mean this year so their talent was not overwhelming. AsU had a young QB and were missing their top WR. Georgia had good talent, but their WR were not consistent. OSU was likely easily the best from a talent and consistency standpoint. Then injuries. 2023 had Watts out quite a bit. Barron was out some then less than 100% effective. This year, Manny being out versus OU was a big deal. And obviously Taaffe the past two games and McDonald the majority of the last one.
  6. Bobby followed up. It’s all fine. I wasn’t tuned in as much from the spring thru the summer so had forgotten about Moore missing the spring, Wisner missing time, etc.
  7. So if we score, 5 TDs but in less than 90 seconds, you are not happy? But I guess you never said those drives needed to turn into points.
  8. I meant in largely in jest although I’d suspect Kirby put in some off season work on Texas. Them having MSU this week works to our benefit. They can’t blow them off and still win.
  9. All that means is they’ve been saving exotic looks for Texas.
  10. Probably a critical yet understated part of the early season discussion. Then to start the early season with guys banged up and missing time didn’t help.
  11. We know Moseley was not good to start the season, and that Wingo missed some practice time, but is there more to it than that?
  12. Perhaps the LBs need to forego some aggressiveness in attacking the run to the potential detriment of the pass game. A little LB help could have kept 10 points off the board versus Vandy. That wasn’t really a run/pass type issue although a bit too much concern over a mobile QB is a possibility. Two Vandy TDs were due in part to the lack of contain as well.
  13. Yeah. We all have strengths and weaknesses and they don’t all translate equally within the family. But watch how Arch walks and jogs on the field. He does look quite a bit like Peyton.
  14. https://www.denverpost.com/2009/12/08/qa-mannings-happy-feet-dont-mean-hes-rattled/amp/ Here is an article about Peyton and his action in the pocket. Not sure how much of this thought Arch incorporates into his game.
  15. There’s nothing wrong with them generally speaking. In my view, they were hypercritical given the circumstances. I don’t go looking for them, it seemed the number for Arch relative to other guys was more. Even Jesse Palmer in game 2 was feeding off the prior. There were 3 plays that he was pretty critical and basically full of it. I have recorded and rewatched games for going on 30 years. There’s always tons of stuff you see on a 2nd and 3rd viewing and sometimes you pause it to see it. Completely different than in real time. Angles matter. Including the tv view versus the end zone view. I suspect the live viewing versus the end zone or all 22 may take some tweets from a live perspective to a more balanced view. There’s often a disregard for throwing lanes. Really there’s tons of nuance that gets forgotten. Regarding the feet. It could be a number of things. Maybe the rush. Maybe inexperience. Maybe that’s a bit of who he is. There may be some because of timing too. He’s made very good throws when less than perfect footwork was in play. He’s not a guy that has to live in the pocket so by nature I’d expect him to vary his mechanics more than some. Playmakers won’t always follow traditional teachings.
  16. I find these pretty interesting in a different way than most. I thought for dang sure Daniel was critical in his earlier review about the double hitch but was singing the praises here. The play discussing the 4th option. Livingstone had 6. This may be a good example of reading the defense. The Film Guy versus OSU wasn’t overly critical but highlighted a missed open receiver when Downs was playing games. You have to read quick so sometimes you will miss because once you move off that route you’re likely not coming back to it. Then he finishes the throw with less than stellar footwork but that’s ok cause it was on target. Believe this is the second critique of being antsy in the pocket. I have vague references about that being a critique of Payton. It may tie into the hitch too so a bit curious if that’s intentional.
  17. Going back in time, but why did Burke only get 13 plays versus UF?
  18. Running with The Herd for kid is pretty cool. They used to get a tshirt, not sure now.
  19. There are likely several reasons for this stat. This may be the distance at which QB pressure is most impactful. Since we’re 3rd and long quite often, we’re likely in this range when forced to be rather than we want to be. Arch is tied for 4th in number of pressures at that distance. Quick math shows of those in the top 5 his pressure rate is the highest. He’s tied for 34th in number of attempts.
  20. Per PFF, Simmons rushes the passer approx 83% of the time. Hill is approx 25%. Gotta keep em guessing.
  21. Well, it’s quite the mystery to me. i believe there were some positives to garner from yesterday regarding Stroh.
  22. More of the abuse has occurred since Stroh was removed. Up to that point, it was just poor pass protection.
  23. People forget or never knew? The key for such a player, really any player, is to be in the right spot for their profile and skill.
  24. Lots of dudes on the short bus here. The sky may not be falling but that roof over their head ain’t that high.
  25. Good job kid bringing some positivity. Homecoming, at night probably gave some extra juice too. UF and UK both came off bye weeks. Both a degree of desparation. The MSU game will be more indicative of where we stand.
